Whats your take on dowry.
i wl start.
In my community da drama is opposite of wats happening in cc.,i mean its da gals parents ho take,or better word DEMAND dowry.
its like parents want to take dowry frm da groom side for rising up their daughter.i hv seen myself many alliance got cancelled bcoz of it.
its a big shame.
wats say?

Historically the dowry system in it's original form as stri dhan made sense. These days with girls being financially independent and equal inheritance laws in place it makes no sense at all. Dowry doesn't make sense at all from either side even if parents educate a girl they do it for her benefit and these days with the breakdown of the joint family she is more likely than not only going to be contributing ot her own household. The one thing though that I would really like to see change is a couple being responsible for helping out both sets of parents if need be and not just the boys parents.

I thnk both parents sld only help if needed but both couple sld pay nd provide for their needs

We have no dowry. Family members help out if one is in need. Traditionally husband's responsibility to take care of wife and children. These days when wife is also earning, it is extra bonus, but primarily the husband is provider.

i never heargd something like that before!!!!
well dowry thign shuld b discouraged by everbody!!!!
