'Survival of the fittest' policy applies to small screen this year (2012)as TV saw many shows
launching but few managed to survive, production houses waited for long to get appropriate slot and channel. However, there were few makers, who planned their projects accordingly but got chopped by the channel or by themselves. As a year ender feature TOI.com brings some scenario of shows, which launched but unfortunately also got bombed this year along with few long running, good shows getting pulled off by the channel to fit the new line up.
So let's start with those shows which launched with a great hype but didn't manage to survive. First on the list would be Shubh Vivah on Sony; The show which was in making since years, saw many difficulty right from the copy right issues from the original show, Metti Oli, from which it was remade. The cast consisted known names and also marked return of Eijaz Khan on small screem. But it didn't appeal to the audiences and was pulled off air by the channel immediately within 3 months after airing.
The next show would be Byah Hamari Bahu Ka, again a show on Sony TV, which failed to create magic on the channel. Though it was a talk of the town considering its wacky headline, the show never seen a growth in TRPs. Audiences expectations were not fulfilled with storyline. The makers tried hard to make the show look attractive by roping many good actors but unfortunately had to bid adieu in a small time.
This clearly states or gives a warning to the makers that mere roping great actors never work on Sony TV but script and the chemistry is always the base of any show's success.
Next show to add on the list is Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein. After the wrap up of Ravi Ojha's long running show Sasural Genda Phool, the makers geared up for their next show Sajda, a unique love story. But it seems the time slot, story and the cast didn't matched up with each other. In spite of roping Rohit Roy as an antagonist, the show didn't worked out and was wrapped up immediately.
It was a shock for the viewers to know Ek Dusre Se Karte Hai Pyaar Hum waving a final good bye to the channel making way for a new show Khamoshiyaan, which was pending with the channel since long now.
All we can say for Star Plus's show is its all your luck to stay on the channel.
Talking about Colors, Two shows were pulled in order to fit in the new line up. Kairee would be the next show on the list, the show always managed to be in the news for its replacement drama. The show started off quite well with the audiences but failed to create its magic on channel like Colors, which is more popular for sensitive issues than comic one.
Chal-Sheh Aur Maat, Nandita Mehra and Bhairavi Raichura's debut project was also launched this year. This suspense thriller though did well in the initial level but later on slipped off from their actual storyline, which somewhere irked the audiences and was called off.
Next to mention would be Aasmaan Se Aage, the show with good capability of sustaining on the channel like Life OK, failed to connect with the audiences. The story was good, casting was absolutely well done but what went wrong was the poor execution and promotion by the channel. Hence, the show somewhere was laid back.
SAB TV, which is trying to manage its own uniqueness, also saw three shows wrapping up immediately after their launch. Bhai Bhayya Aur Brother, Golmaal Hai Bhai Sab Golmaal Hai, which was return of season 2 of Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo failed to create the magic with its change in cast and storyline. I Love My India was also the one to bite the dust instantaneously.
These were few unfortunate shows which were launched this year and sadly also said bye bye to the channel. Zee TV in this term stood lucky and different with no shows wrapping up after their launch this year.
Apart from these shows, there are many long running shows which were pulled off by the channel in order to fit in new line ups. They are Ruk Jaana Nahi, Navya, Sapno Se Bhare Naina, Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya and last but not the least Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon from Star Plus. Bhagonwali, Shobha Somnath Ki,Ram Milayi Jodi and Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli from Zee TV. Na Aana Iss Des Laado and Veer Shivaji from Colors. Dekha Ek Khwaab and Saas Bina Sasural from Sony TV. Main Lakshmi Tere Angan Ki, Meri Maa, Tum Dena Saath Mera, Zindagi Kahey Smile Please from Life OK.
Now turning to our last section. The shows which were planned but got scrapped this year are Balaji's Tere Ishq Nachaye which was planned for Zee TV, BBC Production's Mere Sang Dol Tu which was planned for Star Plus, Pyaar Ki Naukri by Spellbound and Walkswater which was again planned for Star Plus and 24 Frames show for Colors starring Mugdha Chapekar and Rajat Tokas and last but nit the least Creative Eye's Yeh Pyaar Nibhayenge Hum for Star Plus.
All we can say from the above information that TV was more unpredictable this year. Hope it gets better next year.
