Poem on samadhi of jhansi ki rani :Subhadrakumari Chauhan

Iss samadhi me chupi hui hai,
ek rakh ke dheri,
jalkar jesne swatantrata ke divya arati pheri,
ye samadhi yeh laghu samadhi hai, jhansi ki rani ki,
antem lilasthali ye hai
laxmi mardani ki

yehi kahin par bikhar gayi veh, bhagna vijay mala see,
uske phool yaha sanchit hai,
hai yaha smruti shala see,
sahe var par var antt tak,
ladee veer baala see,
aahuti see gir chadhi chita par, chamak uthee jwala see,
badh jata hai mann veer ka,
rann me bali hoone se,
mulyavati hoti sone ki bhasma,
yatha sone se,
rani se ab adhik hame ab,
yeh samadhi hai pyari
yahan nihit hai swatantrata ki,
asha ki chingari
Iss se bhi sunder samadhiya ,
hum jag me hai pate,
unki gatha par nishith me,
shudra jantu he gaate,
par kaviyon ki amar geera me,
isski amitt kahani,
sneh aur shradha se gati,
hai veeron ke bani
Bundele Harbolo ke mukh humne sune kahani,
kubh ladi mardani veh thi Jhansi wali rani,
yeh samadhi chir samadhi hai,
Jhansi ki rani ki,
antim lilasthali yaha hai ,
laxmi mardani ki

SAMASTHAN OF ANEGUNDI (ZAMINDARI): present day HYDERABAD

COA of AnegundiAnegundi fort craddle of Vijayanagar empire,Anegundi near Hampi

ANCIENT HISTORY:

Anegundi is located in a village in Gangavathi taluk of Koppal district across river Tungabhadra. It has history which is almost 5,000 years old. It is at a distance of 5 kms from Hampi. It is also, believed to be the monkey kingdom of Kishkinda in the epic of Ramayana.

Anegundi means in Kannada "elephant pit" said to have been the place where the elephants of the Vijayanagara kings were kept, it is just opposite the ruined capital of the Vijayanagaraempire. It is also the cradle of the Krishnadevaraya dynasty of the glorious Vijaynagar Empire.

Anjanadri hill, the birth place of Hanuman, and the mountain Rishimuka are the other places near Anegundi associated with Ramayana.

In the epic Ramayana, Kishkinda was the kingdom of Bali, Sugriva's brother. After killing Bali the kingdom was handed over to Sugriva by Lord Rama. Kishkinda-Kanta, a portion in the Ramayana depicts the meeting of Rama and Lakshman with Hanuman and Sugriva.

DYNASTY: Araveeti (Narapathi)

SHORT HISTORY: Subject to the Rulers of Bijapur and Golconda and then the territory of the old family estate of Anegundi was early in the eighteenth century held by the Rayas from the Mogul emperor of Delhi as a tributary state. In 1749 it was seized by the Mahrattas, and in 1775 it was reduced by Haidar Ali of Mysore, but continued to exist as a tributary quasi-independent state till the time of Tipu (Tippoo Sultan). Tipu, who never suffered from an excess of compunction or compassion when his own interests were at stake, annexed the estate bodily to his dominions in 1786. Thirteen years later he was killed at Seringapatam, and in the settlement that followed, the little territory was made over to the Nizam of Hyderabad, the English Government retaining all lands on their side of the Tungabhadra. Partly in compensation for this loss of land, the Government has till very recently paid an annual pension to the head of the Anegundi family. This was abolished in 1889 as no legal heir could be determined. In 1902 the allowance was set at 6,000Rs. Predecessors and Rulers were...
