Saat Phere
A girl is sitting in front of a mirror staring at her reflection...She is wearing a beautiful lehenga..She has taken another dupatta on her head as per the rituals...She has also decked her look with matching jewellery...A mangtika can be seen peeping from her dupatta followed by a small stone bindi...She is wearing stunning set of earrings and necklace...A deep orange henna stain can be seen on her hands complemented with lots of bangles...She has a natural glow on her face...She slowly stands up and adores her own reflection n blushes unknowing to her own self....
She goes and stands in window staring at the hypnotic sky…The blues, the yellows and the pinks…The various colours in sky are depicting her various emotions…The excitement of new life,the nervousness of new relations,the attraction for her would be husband…She is experiencing all these feelings and getting goosebumps thinking about her future…She is lost in her own little world…
Suddenly she hears a voice which brings her out of her reverie
“Baarat Aa Gayi”
A smile lights up on her face,her eyes starts twinkling and butterflies start dancing in her tummy…
Here her mother welcomes the baarat and applies tikka to the groom and does the aarti…She takes her ring finger and from the lower lash line takes kohl and applies behind groom’s ear to save him from evil eye…
The groom is taken to the mandap and the rituals begin…
“Kanya ko bulaiye” the priest says…
Her elder brother who is standing besides their parents stands up and goes to bring his beloved baby sister…As he slowly starts ascending the stairs, he remembers the many times he has chased her for numerous naughty things she did to annoy him…
A small girl can be seen running holding a notebook and a boy,bit elder than her can be seeing chasing her…She goes up the stairs and he chases her there…And then the duo can be seen descending those stairs now the boy holding book in one hand and his little sister’s plait in another hand…He is smirking while she has a frown on her small face…
He comes out of his trance and enters her room…
“Neeche chale” he asks her and holds out his hand for her…She has tears in her eyes recalling the same scenario…He turns his back to her and wipes his tears…
She places her hand in his and holds onto it tightly never wanting to let go of the hand which has annoyed her but more than that has supported her and loved her…
“Bhai” she calls out softly and unable to control her emotions hugs her brother tightly…He embraces her back with equal fervour never wanting to let her go from his protecting spell…
Slowly he breaks the hug,cups her face and kisses her on her forehead…Looks lovingly at his sister and caresses her head gently so as to not spoil her dupatta arrangement…He holds her hand tightly and they began the new journey…
The duo start descending the stairs,hands tightly held eyes on mandap but their minds in their lovely past…
He takes her to mandap and his wife comes by his side and helps her to sit down and helps her arrange her lehenga so she can sit comfortably…Tears again prick their eyes…Her bhabhi pecks her on her cheek and leaves from there and stands beside her husband…
She is lost in her memories…Reminiscing the time she has spent with her family…Her groom looks at his right and gently places his hand on her…Not expecting it she turns towards him and he blinks his eyes in a gesture that I am always with you…She passes him a small smile which he replies with winking…She widens her eyes watching his reaction and a blush adorns her face…He smiles and gets lost in her…
Their wedding ceremonies proceed…Now the time of Kanydaan arrives…
“Ladki ke pita aage aaiya…Kanyadaan karna hai”The priest announces…
Her father takes a deep breath and slowly comes forward to do the ritual…His steps are slow and he feels as if he is carrying the burden of the whole world on him while walking these few steps as the time has arrived of giving away his little princess to someone else…
A girl of 16 can be seen laying on a bed…Her head on her father’s lap and he is caressing her head lovingly…Her mother joins them and says “Itne laad bhi theek nahi…Ek din jab sasusral jayegi tab vaha itna laad pyaar kaun karega??” Her father not able to bear that his little girl will go away from him says “Iske shaadi ke baad to ghar jamaai hi launga to meri princess hamesha apne papa ke pass rahegi…” Her mother smiles and just shakes her head in inka kuch nahi ho sakta way…
He comes out of his trance and looks at his daughter and both share a teary smile..He sits down beside her and takes her hand and his son in law’s hand…He keeps her hand in groom’s hand and holds their hand in between both in a silent saying that I’m giving you my most priceless possession…Take good care of her…The groom senses his turmoil and keeps his hand on her father’s in a silent but honest promise of keeping his better half safe and happy…Her father is happy that he has chosen the right guy for his daughter and smiles at the groom…The priest then proceeds with the rituals…The time of Jai Mala arrives…
The bride and groom are standing opposite each other and have floral garlands in their hands…She looks up at him and a shy smile lights up her face…He smiles back to her…They exchange the garlands and proceed for the saat phere ritual…The groom’s bhabhi comes forward and ties the bride’s dupatta’s one end with the groom’s stole…
Nervousness can be seen clearly on her face as she is now entering in the new phase of her married life…Taking vows is a very spiritual way of accepting him as your husband in every way…He senses her nervousness and offers his hand to her…She shyly looks into his eyes and keeps her trembling hand in his…He intertwines their fingers and lightly in a soothing way presses her hand in a I’m with u gesture…
They start their saat pheres holding each other’s hands…Giving and taking support of each other…They exchange their vows and promise each other silently to fulfill the other’s expectations…
The priest asks them to sit down for further rituals…The groom adorns the bride with Mangalsutra and fills her hair parting with sindoor…
The priest then announces “Vivah sampanna…Aaj se aap pati patni hue…Apne badon ka aashirwad lijiye…”
The newly wedded couple takes blessings of their elders for a happy and blissful married life…With new hopes,relations,expectations they both have finally entered the married life and are looking forward to their journey…
