okay so thank god nivi fought! i would have been pretty mad if she didnt!
Next morning, Nivi was still sleeping peacefully when the sunlight lit up the room, knocking at her eyes to open up. She groaned in irritation pulling the duvet over her face. As she turned to her side on the bed, her hands instinctively went towards Viren's side to hold him. But it was empty. Still trying to feel Viren she kept patting her hand on the bed sheet. At last when she realized that Viren isn't there, she opened her sleepy eyes slowly and looked around frowned a bit. Viren was nowhere to be seen. Rubbing her eyes and yawning, she sat up to see Viren sitting at the edge of the bed, his hands placed under his chin and elbow resting on his thighs. He looked cute just like a kid. He looked dressed and ready to leave for the office.
Her head shot towards the wall clock. "11 a.m. !!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! I kept sleeping till now?" She exclaimed.
Viren nodded his head, his lips twitching in an amused smile. Nivi pushed the duvet off, stood up and hurried towards the exit of the room, saying "Why didn't you wake me up Viren? Wait I will make something for you guys first, then only you two are going to office."
Viren caught her wrist, forcing her to sit down on the couch slowly "Calm down jaan. You don't have to worry about our breakfast. I made it, we ate it and Anurag already left for office. I was just waiting for you to wake up."
"Why?"
"I just wanted to make sure that you are okay. How are you feeling? I hope that your head is not paining with all the crying you did yesterday." Viren replied checking her forehead. Nivi smiled and caught his hand "I am fine Viren."
Viren stood up and picked up his briefcase. He looked at his wrist watch, frowning a bit in concentration, calculating something in his mind. He looked back at Nivedita who was staring at him curiously, giving her a smile, spoke "Now get ready in half an hour and come downstairs for your breakfast. I am waiting for you."
He walked out of the room. Nivi sighed and got up to get ready. After 20 minutes, she went downstairs dressed in a simple creamish chooridar, to see Viren typing something furiously on the laptop. Hearing some sound, he looked up and Nivi saw specs on his eyes. She never understood why he wore specs. He never wore one when he came Shimla. While living with Viren here in Delhi taught Nivi something which always made her wonder. The real Viren was just the opposite she knew during the first few months of their marriage. In Shimla, She never saw Viren taking work seriously, but here he looked a complete workaholic. He no more tried to say cheesy lines he used to say earlier and never flirted with her though he is very romantic and she knew that. Her thoughts made her blush which didn't went unnoticed by Viren.
"What are you blushing for?" said Viren, surprise clearly shown on his face.
Controlling herself, she shrugged her shoulder and went towards the kitchen. She was wondering what to cook for herself when she heard Viren's voice "What are you doing in the kitchen Nivi? Come and have your breakfast. It's getting cold."
She came out and saw a bowl covered, placed on the dining table. She opened it to see Mexican pasta in it and looked back at Viren in disbelief.
"You cooked it?"
Viren looked up from the laptop and nodded before looking back at the laptop screen. "Viren, if you don't mind can I ask how do you know cooking? You know I am wondering about the same from the time I came here!!!" he heard Nivi's next question. He closed his laptop while shaking his head and went next to Nivi while taking off his specs. He always wanted Nivi to ask questions about his life, but she never did. Now when she asked one, he was determined to tell her everything.
He caught Nivi's shoulder and made her sit on the chair. Smiling broadly, he took a plate and served her some pasta, placing it in front of her. Nivi first looked at Viren, then at pasta and again at Viren. He drew a chair and sat opposite to her. He picked up the fork, dug some pasta on it and brought it near Nivi's mouth. He indicated Nivi to open her mouth with his eyes. Still in daze, Nivi opened her mouth and ate the pasta slowly. He kept feeding her and she kept eating quietly still in daze, staring at Viren.
Once the plate was empty, he took it and went inside kitchen. He washed the plate and came back to Nivi. He sighed and spoke in a soft voice "The time I came here as a kid, I was not happy. Slowly, a determination started to ignite inside me; I wanted to learn everything so that I never get dependent on anything. I wanted to do things on my own. After passing 12th, I enrolled myself In Delhi University and did BCA from there. Then I did MS in computer engineering. All this time I was doing part time jobs while studying so that I don't have to rely on my family for my daily expenses. Anurag and I used to live in a one room flat. During that time, I started cooking for us. For the first few days, even I wasn't able to eat what I cooked, but later I started enjoying cooking and now I know cooking.
I know you wonder why I wear glasses. My eye sight is a bit weak due to all the continuous hours of work I did on my pc and doctor advised me to wear specs while reading something, working on the laptop etc. Any more questions?"
"Yeah...I just wanted to ask..." Nivi hesitated
"I am listening jaan" Viren nodded in encouragement.
"When I met you and when you stayed in Shimla, you never took work seriously, but now you always work. When you lived there, you always used to say some cheesy lines and flirt with me but..." Nivi's voice trailed off, leaving the sentence incomplete. Viren started laughing out loudly, some tears dropping from his eyes meanwhile.
He wiped them and replied "It wasn't me Nivi. I behaved like a carefree, cool guy so that you can open up to me without fearing that I might judge you like others. And about work, yeah I am a workaholic and I was like this always. Work keeps me busy, distracted and never allows me to think about my insecurities. Earlier this was the reason but now I enjoy my work. After all I am the owner of Delhi's second largest IT Company."
Silence fell for few minutes when Viren again spoke "Hold on are you trying to tell me that you miss my flirty side?"
Nivi blushed and avoiding his eyes, she lied "No." Viren smiled seeing her lying.
After talking to her for few minutes, Viren picked up his coat and wore it. He picked up his laptop bag and briefcase and went towards Nivi. Caressing her cheeks with his palms, he kissed her forehead and whispered "I am leaving for office, Bye Nivi. You look tired, take some rest. We will go out tonight."
Giving her a last smile, he went out without noticing touched and awe look on Nivi's face.
Nivi kept sleeping for a fair amount of time. She lied to Viren. Her head was paining since last night. After taking a good amount of rest, she woke up and made a ginger tea for her headache. Sitting in the balcony, she kept looking outside while sipping her tea. She kept looking at the play ground where some kids were playing. Seeing them playing made her smile a lot and it calmed her down a lot. On her way to kitchen, she saw the door of the room where Viren kept her paintings a slight open. She placed the empty cup in the dishwasher and stepped towards the room. She came inside it slowly.
For the first time, she saw her paintings carefully. Ever since she got to know her paintings, she always felt a bit apprehensive to have a proper look at them. Not used to too much attention from anyone, it amazed her that Viren loved her so dearly that he used her as his muse for his paintings. In every painting, she noticed that Viren took care of each and every detail of her face in his mind. It amused her to see that how he canvassed down her happy expressions, her sad expressions, calm expressions on the canvas perfectly. She took a look at every painting for a fair amount of time, appreciating Viren's painting in her mind. For few moments, she thought she is looking at her reflection in the mirror while looking at her paintings. At last, she saw the last painting kept in the room. It was from last night. In it Nivedita was wearing the same gown she wore last night and had shying expressions on her face. Thinking he must have taken notice of shy expressions on her face during their face, Nivi smiled. This guy always managed to surprise her. Nivi ran a hand over the painting and saw some colors on her fingers. The painting was still wet like it was made only 4-5 hours ago. 'He must have made it in morning', Nivi thought and shook her head wondering about her husband's craziness for her. She came out and closed the door while having a last glance at the paintings.
Viren was gathering papers after a board meeting regarding the yearly profit that the company managed to make while Anurag kept looking at him while sitting on the opposite chair. After picking up important papers and hastily keeping them in order, he looked up at Anurag who was scanning him with his pierce gaze. Feeling surprised with the way his best friend looked at him, Viren said "What happened to you Anurag?"
"What happened to me? I should ask the same to you." replied Anurag in a stern voice.
"What do you mean?" Viren got confused.
"Don't you dare to act like you don't know anything what I am talking about. I heard what you guys were discussing when finally your highness came back home at 2 am. I knew something was going on in your mind when you were talking with Navin, but I thought that you are intelligent enough to not doubt the base of your and Nivi's relationship again but I was wrong. You are still stuck there."
"Then what you expect me to do? I was just trying to make sure that Nivi too want to be in this relationship like me." Viren was shocked. Anurag never discussed personal matters in the office ever, unless he was very impatient to talk about it. Does that mean he was very very very angry with Viren?
"Cut the crap. It's your ego that made you react like this. For god sake, in future don't even dare to bring this topic again. Nivi is like my sis and she is too good to be treated like that. I know you both reconciled so I am not going to say anything more. But yes I just want to say that no one can ever love you more than Nivi. I know I shouldn't interfere in a husband-wife relationship matter but you both are close to me and I don't want you both to live your separately due to your silly mistakes. I am warning you don't hurt her ever."
With the last warning look at him, Anurag stormed out the boardroom while Viren kept thinking about Anurag's words.
