Abhinav.
I have always wondered why I liked this character so much that I got stuck in this show.
He was not a well-written character. But, seeing that no one in the show was well-written, it was not jarring.
He was likable. But so were many other characters in many series, but I have never felt the sort of tug.
There were many shows revolving around step-parents. So, why was Abhinav different for me?
Then it hit me.
Abhinav was a character written for Abhir. Not for Akshara.
He was written as a parent of a child, first and then as husband/friend/partner for the female lead. And that is why Abhinav felt different for me.
At first, I assumed that he was there to show Abhimanyu how a considerate husband should behave. But maybe, it was not that. It was to teach Abhimanyu the actual selfless love, to show the audience the definition of selfless love.
Abhinav loved the baby without expecting anything. Akshara could have gone back to her house after delivering. Abhir might have grown up not knowing about the guy he held for days together. And it would have been fine.
But it was not written that way. Abhir grew up with a man who loved him without even expecting recognition. Abhir experienced selfless love and grew up in a non-toxic environment.
Yes, He lied to the world that he was married to Akshara, but he never lied about being Abhir's father. There was nothing to lie about. He was Abhir's father who fulfilled all his responsibilities.
He was a playful father but also disciplined Abhir whenever he had to. His position was neither less nor more than Akshara's position.
The only thing I was way too surprised about was Akshara moving on. Realistically, it would have been natural, but ITV never dealt with realism as it was mundane. So, when Akshara moved on, it was a mild surprise.
Abhinav as a father, a husband, and a human being was such a refreshing change from the Toxic MLs of ITV.
I can write paragraphs on every detail I liked about Abhir And Abhinav's relationship. They were the father-and-son relationship YRKKH needed.
Abhinav as a husband was also such a beautiful relationship.
My favorite arc was when Abhinav saw Akshara running toward Abhimanyu after his accident. He was given hope for that relationship, and to see the hope shattered after a few moments must have been difficult. But he endured. He talked politely. Waited for Akshara to heal and only if she wanted, listen to her thoughts. The amount of respect and care shown by a husband to his wife was what it took for me to slightly root for the couple.
Now that he is leaving, I am so happy that they didn't turn him evil or make him abandon his family for a 'perfect' family... as many have predicted.
He came in as a happy refreshing change and going away because he was too good for this show.
Sorry, Adhya, I couldn't write anything till now because of many things. And I needed some time to collect my thoughts.
