I just finished watching Apna Time bhi Ayega and I fell in love with Fahmaan's character there.
The show suffered heavily due to covid. And had so many actor replacements but in spite of it all they have a very solid storytelling till 220 episode mark.
after that it went downhill.
But seriously Fahmaan is brilliant in his scenes with any co-actor. IMO the first FL was miscast in the role opposite FK because she looks like a kid and had no chemistry with him. The initial 17 episodes are hard to wtach. because their trips and catch scene look awkward. But the moment Megha entered the show the energy changed between the leads and it was fun ride from there.
While Arylie look like force to recon with, Veerani had the more classical Prince Charming- Damsel in distress thing done right. For today's standard where we want women to save themselves and consider them equal, Veerani equation worked because they took turns saving each other. Rani saving Veer emotionally when Veer saved her physically and socially. Classic fairy tale script, rags to riches, etc.
Fahmaan again plays a tortured vulnerable soul here but he has a lightness as Veer that Aryan doesn't. It reflects in his costumes and his body language. Aryan oozes darkness and power. I have not seen him in light colored clothes except in wedding sequences. The BG used for Aryan is always dark, deep and sombre. Veer was flamboyant, sharp and clean. Carried himself confidence but looked approachable. He cried easily and felt deeply.
Fahmaan did really well with the scenes where he is supposed to be an ass as veer. He misunderstands Rani and doubts her loyalty as a wife. Something that by our standard in Arylie and Imlie Fandom is unforgivable to us as we have a bad experience with it. APBTA doesn't have that baggage so that troupe worked between Veerani. Also redemption arc for veer was handled right. One of the best plotlines and episodes. They didn't use an accident as 'fix all'. Before veer's accident they gave enough time for Veer to really repent, ask for forgiveness and really show his repentance through action.
In many ways APTBA story is similar to Imlie 1.0 but is handled better. In both heroines were servants to the family. Imlie after wedding by her choice and Rani was given the job before wedding but after wedding she chose to not change her status till everyone accepts her.
They had a forced wedding in both. Veer never blamed Rani for being put in the situation. While Imlie was blamed for it many times. Veer doesn't go through the second wedding, he comes close but he stops it in the middle and accepts his responsibilities as husband first because a young girl is his responsibility in the new city and new circumstance.
He refuses to let anyone treat her badly. He did falter a few times but in the end he calls a spade a spade and keeps standing up for her. He also encourages her to keep pushing for her studies. He says "i will take care of the issues at home and relationships u focus only on ur education". and he does exactly that.
He does doubt his wife but then bounces back too and its heart warming to see him learn from his mistakes and not repeat it second time when the evidence is actually a lot more damning.
I know Imlie 1.0 was far more complex story and handled in different way. But APTBA does it right. I loved the show and Fahmaan is amazing in the romantic scenes. So indulgent and obsessed with his young innocent bride.
Doctor saab was so freaking protective that he would extract 4-5 episode worth of romance out of a freaking toe nail break. I mean biwi k toe nail break hua thodu sa blood nikala aur baandey ne asisa machaya jaise Rani ka leg amputate hone wala tha. 😆 And doctor saab had spidey senses for his wife too. Fahmaan aced spidey sense wala hubby scenes.
Adorable it was.
