Rakshanda Khan, who is currently essaying Ram's (Ram Kapoor) friend Isha in Sony Entertainment Television's Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, is very proud of her earlier short stint as Madinike in Life OK's mythological show Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev.
"I have full regards for the makers (Nikhil Sinha) for they have taken Indian mytho to a completely different level. Every time I see the promos of Mahadev, I feel so proud of Indian television thinking that it has indeed come a long way."
Here Rakshnada, who is herself a very attractive woman, says, "I would like to add that Mahadev has also given Shiv bhakts (devotees) a very glamorous looking Shiv in Mohit Raina. I am saying this without meaning any disrespect. Girls approach me about the actor who plays Shiv, saying that he is so hot. Normally you don't associate the word 'hot'with God, but, somehow Mohit has elevated Shiv Bhagwan to a different level among young girls. I only hope that these girls turn more religious and do more of Shiv bhakti," she avers.
Looking ahead, Rakshanda would love to do a historical if given a chance. "I have an unfinished dream of playing Umrao Jaan. Had someone made a show on this 19th century courtesan when I was launching my TV career, I would have done it for free. I still remember the scenes that Rekha had done when she had essayed this famous character written by Mirza Hadi Ruswa on big screen, years ago. That kind of nazakat (grace) and lehja (accent) was so pretty. It is so sad that no one has tried to make a good Urdu TV show. At least in the past few years it has just not happened. The beauty of the language has diminished," she observes.
We agree, Rakshanda!!!
