Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger might just be worth all the wait and delays. The first teaser trailer has been released and, we must say, we are impressed!
For once the buzz is right. Salman plays a RAW agent Tiger, whose mission is to fight enemy agents. And he does it with panache! Flying kicks, punches and bullets resonate as a voiceover explains that this is an untold story that may or may not have happened in the secret world of espionage. Does that mean the title is Ek Tha Tiger because Tiger meets a tragic end? We hope not! What did surprise us is that Salman appears just at the tail end of the teaser. Even more surprising is that not a single shot of Katrina Kaif has been included in the teaser. Wonder why. Is it because she doesn't have much to do? Anyway, it just gives us one more reason to await the theatrical trailer of the film. Won't you love to seeKat with Salman again? The teaser has left us asking for more. What about you?

Mumbai: The teaser of Kabir Khan's film has just been released and it has received a positive response from the film fraternity as well as the fans. The teaser went online Thursday and it has also been released with the film 'Ishaqzaade' Friday. Anurag Kashyap describes it as 'intriguing', while Preity Zinta says Salman 'rocks' in it.
The trailer suggests the Yash Raj Films (YRF) production is about intelligence agencies of India and Pakistan, and narrates the story of an agent named Tiger, essayed by Salman.
The trailer is purely action based, and hints at the core idea of the film. However, the romance bit of the film is not shown in the teaser as there is not a single footage of Salman with his co-star Katrina Kaif in it.
Nevertheless, it has hit the right chords with industry members, critics and trade analysts, who have lauded the teaser, which has Salman firing guns, jumping from quite a height, fighting ruthlessly and ultimately, walking with an intense look on his face.
Anurag Kashyap tweeted: "'Ek Tha Tiger' trailer is super awesome... very slick and very intriguing... super curious now... and envious... jaldi dikhao (show it quick) sir."
Preity Zinta wrote: "Saw the trailer of EK THA TIGER n Omg! Salman Rocksss!!!"
Filmmaker Goldie Behl was also all praise for the teaser, which jammed the YouTube view meter within three minutes of its launch and caused the YRF server to be in danger of crashing, according to Khan.
"'Ek Tha Tiger' teaser is awesome! Very rarely do we see commerce and art woven so seamlessly together kabirkhankk has rocked it," tweeted Behl.
Kabir Khan, who has earlier directed 'Kabul Express' and 'New York', is happy with the response.
"Thank you for the overwhelming response to 'Ek Tha Tiger' teaser," he tweeted.
The film, which will also see Katrina indulging in some daredevilry, is slated for an Eid release this year.
The promo of 'Ek Tha Tiger' has striking similarity with the initial trailer of 'Agent Vinod'. However, a closer look will reveal that both the films are actually following the style of the Bourne series.
Jason Bourne series is one of the most influential Hollywood films of recent times. The Matt Damon starrer inspired the filmmakers throughout the world to look beyond the suave James Bond for a spy thriller. The world's largest film industry Bollywood is no exception to it.

Ek Tha Tiger poster The first teaser video of Ek Tha Tiger has been released. And it's explosive! The video packs enough punch to steal your breath away andSalman Khan is simply superb. Don't miss the video. The video begins with a narrative of the history of four wars between India and Pakistan before giving a brief on another war, a proxy one, fought between the two nations on daily basis, the war between the intelligence agencies of the two countries: India's RAW and Pakistan's ISI - in Salman's inimitable voice. As the video progresses, Salman makes an entry looking dashing with a keffiyeh wrapped around his neck. There is some slick action. However, we miss the leading lady Katrina in the trailer. But this sure is a must watch and you'll be left asking for more... http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/salman-kills-with-his-looks-in-ek-tha-tiger-trailer/1/188267.html |
"I AM BLESSED WITH TWO MOMS!"-
Heartthrob Salman Khan's Mother's Day celebrations are different, unique and heartwarming. He, after all, enjoys the blessings of both Salma Khan and Helen!
The respect for the mother is of utmost importance in Salman Khan's family as it is in any other household in the country and his family firmly believes it is the mother who can ensure the wellbeing of a family The Khan siblings, affirms patriarch Salim Khan, have always been close to their mothers and have known her value in their lives.
On the occasion of Mother's Day, Salman's father Salim Khan remembers the contribution of a mother in forming a society and also tells us how the mother is revered in his household. "I lost my mother Siddiqa at a very tender age, but the values that she instilled in me at that age have helped me face the situations in life with ease. Even my children β Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, Alvira and Arpita β have always tried to live up to their mother Salma's expectations."
Ask Salman about how special the day is for him and he promptly expresses his love towards his mothers⦠Salma and Helen. "See, I have two mothers and that way I am doubly blessed," says Salman.
"Even as a kid, he used to be very attached to his mother. When I used to return late after work, I used to find him and his siblings sleeping by his mother's side with a part of her saree firmly clasped in his fist or between his teeth so as to ensure that she doesn't leave his side," says Salim. Even today, he prefers to have his mother's home-cooked food while shooting.
Apparently, he would travel 50 miles to have 'mummy ke haath ka bam khana' while shooting than order from any fancy restaurant.
The influence of Salma on the Khan siblings, especially Salman, was seen during the disturbing phase that the actor had undergone a couple of years back. "Be it during his imprisonment or even after his break ups, it was his mother who has been a constant support to him and the family. He has meticulously followed his mother's principle to never speak ill about anybody," says a family member.
"There have been several moments but I remember when as a kid I was hospitalised and my mother didn't leave my side even for a single moment," says Salman's brother Arbaaz. Ask the brothers about the gift they would choose for their mother and Arbaaz says nothing can match a mother's contribution. "The only valuable gift is to tell them how much you love them and how much they matter to you," says Arbaaz.
"The only valuable gift is to tell them how much you love them and how much they matter to you "
A well hidden secret about Dabangg Khan is that he always makes it a point to buy two identical gifts, one each for Salma and Helen for Mother's Day. "Yes, last year he gifted them wrist watches and both of them were identical in design," confirms Salim Khan.
This year too the trend will continue and he plans to give them something they have yearned for a long time. Needless to say, both mothers are eagerly waiting. They need not wait too long as Mother's Day is just a day away.
Mumbai: Gone are the days when the on-screen mothers in Bollywood would sing lullabies in their soft voices, those pain-filled eyes reflecting their sacrifices, their adoring smile and strokes that soothes away fears, their all-encompassing equation with their on-screen sons.
From Mother India (1957) to Vicky Donor (2012), the portrayal of on-screen mothers have changed over a period of time. The Maa of yesteryear has become 'Mom' today.
Then, no story was complete without them but today those roles have become mostly cliched. Now, in most films, mothers have become marginalised, they are mere props instead of propelling the story.
"There is less importance of mothers in films today. Even if there are roles for mother, there is hardly anything for them to do on screen. Things have changed, there is hero and heroine for everything, so there is no need of mother," said Zarina Wahab, who essayed the role of mother to Shah Rukh Khan in Karan Johar's My Name is Khan and Hrithik Roshan in the remake version of Agneepath.
"The kind of emotions and sentiments that is attached with the character of a mother is not there in today's films. I am happy that after a long time I got to do a film like Agneepath (remake one)," she said.
Can anyone forget actor Shashi Kapoor's famous dialogue as a cop, Mere paas maa hai, to his smuggler brother Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar, where Nirupa Roy was the mother. Roy became the most epitomised on-screen mother in Bollywood history.
Nargis played a fiery single mother in Mehboob Khan's Mother India, who brings up her two sons, Rajendra Kumar and Sunil Dutt. Nargis does not hesitate to fire a bullet at her criminal son, Sunil Dutt.
Leela Chitnis created the archetype of Hindi cinema mother, as she often played an ailing mother or one going through hardships and struggle. She played the mother of leading men, including legendary Dilip Kumar.
Then we had Waheeda Rehman in Yash Chopra's Trishul, Dina Pathak in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Khubsoorat, Raakhee in Ramesh Sippy's Shakti, Nirupa in Manmohan Desai's Amar Akbar Anthony.
Then came a new set of mothers -- Rajshri Movies' favourite maa, Reema Lagoo in Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hai, the cute maa Farida Jalal in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayege, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the glamorous maa Kirron Kher in films like Veer Zaara, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Dostana, Zarina founded a new image of an on-screen mother by the donning the roles in My Name is Khan, Rakhta Charitra and the latest Agneepath.
"Times have changed and so have the role of mothers in Bollywood. As films reflect society, the portrayal of mothers has become more Westernised like in terms of clothes. There are not much family drama movies today - either we have a filthy rich mother or a mother from Dharavi (a slum locality in Mumbai). Where is the middle class mother who goes through struggle, pain?" asked Reema Lagoo, who has played on-screen mother to Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt (Vaastav) and Shahrukh Khan (Yes Boss).
"I feel mothers have merely become prop today...there is hardly anything for them to do on screen. I miss playing the kind of roles I did earlier," she said.
How can one forget the drinking mother, Dolly Ahluwalia, in Vicky Donor. She played the mother to Ayushmann Khurrana and had the audiences in splits with her act.
In Vicky Donor, the scene between Dolly and her mother-in-law (Kamlesh Gill) sharing a drink has become the most talked about act of the film which released last month.
Dolly has admitted she had apprehensions about the audience accpeting the saas-bahu's drinking sessions. "To our good fortune, our bonding, including the drinking part, has been liked," Dolly has said.
