Guys, I need help. How to read fan fiction? I don't read fan fiction, but now I'm thinking about reading Sotus fan fiction for Pride Month. I mean, if I find an interesting Sotus fan fiction, then only I will read that in June. I saw that AO3 provides word counts for stories. Do I need to divide the word count of a story by 300? I think only AO3 provides word counts. If a fanfiction website doesn't provide word counts of stories, how can I know the word counts?

Most fanfic sites provide word counts as far as I know, so it depends on the site. (Archive of Our Own and Fanfiction.net definitely do!) And yes, I believe dividing the word count by 300 is how to get an approximate page number for a particular fic.

Also, I've seen authors put word counts on here and on Wattpad and some other sites that don't really provide total word counts, but if anything, you can always leave a comment asking the author.

Spider-man (Peter Parker) / Human Torch (Johnny Storm)

It's not canonical... but that's what we have fan fiction for, right? smiley36 I've been binging their comics as well... and could easily see it happening (although they work very well as bros / bffs / roomies too)

Spider-man Human Torch

(Source - FF #17)

I've been meaning to get back into Spider-Man comics again, but there are just so many different iterations of it that it actually gives me a headache.

Thank you for your answer, Diya! Is AO3 the best website for reading fan fiction? I saw you read a lot of fan fiction stories. That's why I'm asking you. Also, today I couldn't access Wattpad at all. I tried so many times. I couldn't understand the reason behind it.

It's been a while since I've logged into my Wattpad account, but I remember it being one of the least user-friendly sites I've ever come across (apart from Goodreads). smiley36

AO3 is my preferred site because I like that for multi-chapter fics, they have a function that lets you read the entire work (which makes it easier if you're reading offline and by some miracle the site is still loaded on your phone). I'm also a big fan of being able to filter out tags just to avoid certain things (for example, if you're not looking to read something angsty on a particular day, filter out the 'angst' tag).

But it also depends on what fandom you're trying to read fics from. Some fandoms are popular on both AO3 and fanfiction.net, others are more popular on just one of them. (For example, most of the Vampire Diaries fanfics that I read were on ff.net, but Teen Wolf and Shadowhunters were more popular on AO3.)

Sidenote, I did look up SOTUS, and I think you might have the best luck with AO3!

I would volunteer, but I lack experience in organizing contests and I’m not as talented as you. Your shoes are rather large for me to fill, Lizzie 😅. I don’t want to end up making a mess.

Thank you! Sotus is the name of a show. Sotus stands for Seniority, Order, Tradition, Unity, Spirit. It's a traditional hazing system in Thai Universities. Hazing is something similar to ragging, which is done by seniors in Universities. I'm looking for original stories based on a fictional gay couple. I saw that AO3 provides word counts for fan fiction stories.

That’s interesting—I didn’t know about that show. Yeah, both AO3 and Fanfiction.net show word counts. I think AO3 and Wattpad are better for original fiction. I haven’t read any original fictions on FF.net myself, so I’m not really sure about its offerings.

Are there good Delena (Damon-Elena) fanfiction stories on fanfiction.net?

SOTUS is a very popular Thai BL drama/show. I watched the show a few years ago. The genre, BL means boys' love, and this genre focuses on romantic relationships between two male characters. There're a lot of Thai BL dramas. SOTUS is an adaptation of a novel with the same name, written by a Thai author named Bittersweet (pen name).

In an engineering institute, a 3rd-year student, Arthit is the head hazer, and he's very strict with his juniors. As hazing goes extreme, a junior named Kongpob stands up against Arthit and challenges the norms and the customs of the SOTUS system. Arthit becomes very irritated with him because of that, and Kongpob gradually understands that there's softness and vulnerability underneath Arthit's rough, rude, strong, and harsh demeanor. Kongpob falls in love with Arthit as he discovers those aspects of Arthit's character.

The OST, the secret in our heart, is very beautiful:

College romance and enemies to lovers ? U like that trope smiley36

The show sounds really nice. Which is better, the drama or the book, Shirsha?

Actually, I don't read romantic books at all. smiley36 Still, I liked this show very much. I don't feel interested in reading love stories, especially rom-coms. This one is not a rom-com, though. One day, I came to know about the show, SOTUS and felt interested to watch. I didn't read the novel. I want to read it but it's very costly. The price of book is over 1000 rupees.
