It took me extra time to finish this 5th book. But the 6th is good. 6-10 are gonna be set in the vampire city and though the series on insta love continues but more revelations are coming up.

I am gonna mention this in my review as well that don't read these novels for romance, read them for mystery

I completed books 5 and 6 finally

The 6th one was easier to get through compared to the Shifter City books.

I liked the ML of book 5, but the FL didn’t get much importance in her own story. She was just there as his mate, without much personality or power to contribute to the team.

Rheia grew up with Paranormals yet showed some resistance before accepting Colton but Anne just went with the flow “Keelan is my mate okay , oh no his brother is my mate okay “ .

That’s what made their story so bland and meh

I only kept reading book 5 to see where Keelan was.

@bold - I know right! It's like she simply exists, as if saying that yeah, Kendrick has a mate too. I didn't even have high hopes for his mate and still Anne was a huge disappointment

As if they didn’t have each other in that moment and specifically needed Anne to console them .

Shows how replaceable and unremarkable Anne’s character really was.

I’m curious why you didn’t have much hopes for Kendrick’s mate

I don’t even mind Anne being a plain human but her reaction (or lack of reaction to be more accurate ) to paranormal world is so disappointing and boring .

@bold - exactly! In the app that I read all these novels, I have a feature to write my notes and I had specifically highlighted this dialogue and wrote the note - "See, she does nothing! What unique thing did she do by being everyone's rock when the others were doing the same!"

I didn't have high hopes for Kendrick's mate because given that who he is and how powerful he is, I had an intuition that the writer is gonna give him someone less powerful to maintain a balance between the couple and also, if he got a powerful and intelligent mate then they would be like too powerful together and that could not happen because Meryn is supposed to be the most powerful of them all

They would have taken limelight from the main character and couple so I was sure that Kendrick will get a human who might have a snarky personality to match Kendrick's but what did we get - Anne. No personality. No presence. Anne

And I don't even mind accepting and adjusting to the paranormal world quickly but that just sums up her personality which is so boring and simply nothing that is female lead like.

Though I managed to finish the two novels Tangled and Twisted by Emma Chase. Do not read those, the male lead is yuck Like he is bad, very bad, extremely bad. And after what he did to the female lead in Twisted, the second book, I would have broken all ties with him and would never forgive him, especially not as easily as the FL did.

Oh yes! Meryn is supposed to be the most powerful out there so that’s understandable , Aiden is kind of her trophy commander husband at this point but atleast he has his quirks and personality to banter with her, Male Meryn’s mate could have been the same Maybe from rival family or something to spice things up .

I liked Priest and his mate’s banter and relationship the best so far in the series except Aiden and Meryn’s ofcourse .

Book 16 will be based in Storm keep ?

Idk if the book I downloaded was missing few pages because the epilogue of 15th book was kind of vague , it only mentioned Caiden and current situation in storm keep but nothing about his mate or nightmares .
