Jaaved Jaffri is set to launch his production house with a film directed by Sanjeev Sivan

NEW FRONTIERS: Jaaved Jaffri
Actor-television presenter Jaaved Jaffri is planning to launch a production house of his own that will cater to a different kind of cinema.

Says Jaaved, "It will be launched by the end of this year.

The first film I'm planning to produce is something like Khosla Ka Ghosla, a good film on a small budget.

Santosh Sivan's youngest brother Sanjeev will direct the film. He is very talented and will make a fabulous film."

Getting his due

However, the actor is unsure of acting in his own production. "We are still in the scripting stages; once the characters fall into place, we'll decide if I'm needed as an actor. I can play a cameo in my own production, but not the main character, unless Sanjeev feels otherwise," he explains.

On the work front, Jaaved has been getting accolades for his performance in Salaam Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum. His recent release Dhamaal too fetched him praise from critics. Says Jaaved, "Earlier, we didn't have multiplexes so small budget films were tagged

C-grade films. Now, they're working. Shah Rukh Khan often tells me that I came to the industry 10 years before my time. Now, I'm finally getting to show my calibre as an actor."

Dandy dancing

Jaaved has his kitty full with good films. He is looking forward to Samar Khan's Shauriya and Nagesh Kukunoor's Tasveer. "I've also signed a film with Anees Bazmee and a couple of other projects I'm not supposed to talk about. My second innings is very interesting," he admits.

Jaaved is also planning to take his long-running TV show Boogie Woogie to a different level. "Even after 11 years, the TRP are growing stronger and that's a big surprise to us.

We plan to take the show international and will travel across continents and find more talent," he says. "Dance is my passion and I'll never leave it. I live to my fullest when I'm on stage. I get energy when I see kids and even grandmothers dancing on the show," he says.
