Showing Respect to Judges?

Hey guys. I've been watching Boogie Woogie for many years now and one thing seems odd to me. The judges are such warm and funny people. They also indirectly try to teach good values to the kids in several ways. Many times they've expressed displeasure at the kids choosing songs with adult-type lyrics or dancing in a way that would seem vulgar of children, and even a recent incident when a young girl kept replying with "haa." They tried to teach her to say "haa-ji" because it's more respectful. Anyhow, seeing how they promote good manners and culture, I find it weird that none of the three judges let the kids touch their feet for blessings. They always jump back or do something weird. Maybe ten years back I would have thought that maybe Ravi and Naved think they're "too young" to have someone touch their feet. But come on, it's not even about age. The kids are touching their feet because they are showing respect and they want their blessing. I wish I could write to them about this. I'm sure they would understand. Anybody else see where I'm coming from?

I don't think it's a matter of who follows it or not. It's a custom. And it runs strong especially in students of the arts like music and dance. Haven't you ever noticed that they touch their guru's feet for example?

Touching the feet for blessings also implies thec connotation that the person is extremely older and actually deserves to have his/her feet touched. I think Javed, Ravi and Naved feel like they are not deserving of the kids touching their feets for blessings. But like Bangiboy said they do bless the children regardless.

like i said, touching someone's feet is not about the person's age. unfortunately that's a misconception and people tend to jump back because they're like "oh, come on, im not THAT old." you touch someone's feet when you show your humility to them. it's a way of showing respect. and that person in turn gives you good wishes or blessings. needless to say Javed, Ravi, and Naved seem like wonderful people and of course they give their best wishes to the contestants. i don't deny that. the reason for my surprise is that when they try to promote good values (and are doing a good job at it), they shouldn't jump when kids touch their feet. these guys are well-known in their field and they are a lot of kids' role models.

and even if you guys do want to consider the age factor, all of three of them are easily past 40. these kids are young enough to be their children. so even then, it shouldn't be that they're "oh too young" to have their feet touched.

What does it matter

They say good things, wish the kids happiness

who cares if the feet are touched or not!

maybe they feel awkward having their feet touched..esp when they never did it

lol...alright, so absolutely no one sees my point. 😊 everyone is entitled to their own opinion i guess. and silvermoonlight, maybe you're right, maybe they feel "awkward", BUT they definitely do touch other people's feet. I've seen them do it several times on the show itself...like for example some of the guest hosts who come on their show or even some of the "Mummys" who came on their mother-episodes (i.e. total strangers).

hey shalonia, even i've noticed that many times.. but didnt realli cme up wiv a gud enough reason to see why don't they let the kids touch their feets .. the only reason i can think of is that they might feel they are not that old that ppl start touchin their feets... which is the point you made as well... the second reason myt be because they r muslims so they don't believe in touchin feet etc... thats all wht i can think of... but i feel whatever the reason might be itz up to them if they want the participants to touch their feets or not... for me itz alwayz kinda funny the way they move off when somebody tries to touch their feets...

finally! one person finds it weird too, haha 😊 i guess maybe you're right cheeky_angel. maybe they think they're too "young" (even though I beg to differ, hehe) but remember, ravi is hindu while javed and naved are muslim. still, we've seen all three of them touch people's feet (as i mentioned in the previous post) on the show. i think that's the beauty of india. it's a secular country, where muslims will touch an elders feet and hindus will celebrate eid, etc etc etc. i just love the tolerance level people of all religions have towards people of different religions in india 👏 if everyone in the world could follow that philosophy, i think the world would be a much happier (and peaceful) place
