Helen shakes a leg on Boogie Woogie
A set that is a kaleidoscope of colours, foot-tapping music, and reverberating dancing, that's Boogie Woogie for you. But among all this fanfare and fun if the special guest is the dancing queen of yesteryear, then it mystifies the magic. Veteran dancer-actress Helen is the judge of the Cabaret Special episode of the popular dance show Boogie Woogie on Sony Entertainment Television.
Beautiful & graceful Helen walked in to the sets spreading her aura and warmth among the participants . While the participants danced enthusiastically to her sizzling songs like aa jane ja ,piya tu ab to aa ja , yeh mera dil Helen reminisces on the shooting of her song yeh mera dil from Don. She said she had to go on a 15 days diet to fit in to the costume made for that dance. Helen also clears the wrong notions attached to cabaret dancing as it is understood today. According to her cabaret dancing has a story to tell, a narrative that's interesting.
While judging and appreciating the young performers on the show and showering praises and encouraging them her words of wisdom to the youngsters was, "Dance must come from within. You start with a bang & end with a bang." She also gave a "jaddu ki jappi" to an enthusiastic youngster who could not hold back her happiness on meeting the uncrowned dancing diva of Indian cinema
This episode of Boogie Woogie will bring back beautiful memories of Helen to viewers who have seen her in action and for those who may have not got an opportunity to witness her dancing this is their chance to get close to her and know some of her most treasured & cherished moments that will always remain as evergreen as the actress herself.

The inimitable trio are back with an all new 'Boogie Woogie'
MUMBAI: One show in its Friday lineup - Fear Factor - has come to an end and Sony has brought back the homegrown dance format show Boogie Woogie to replace it. The new avatar Boogie Woogie, hosted by the Jaffery brothers - Javed and Naved along with Ravi Bhel, was re-launched on 9 June in the 9 pm slot as a one hour show.
True to its style, Sony has unleashed a three-week campaign to generate awareness among people around the show with a multimedia promotional campaign comprising print, radio, television and outdoors. But this time round, emphasis has been laid on below-the-line (BTL) activities. The channel is also looking at encashing on the interactivity factor keeping in mind the show's TG, which is primarily kids and the youth.

Mumbai - Sony TV's 'Boogie Woogie', the longest running dance show on television, is all set to make a comeback early June.
According to Sony sources, the decision to bring back the perennially popular dance show was prompted by the overweening popularity of STAR One's 'Nach Baliye', which incidentally is also poised for a second innings.
The show until two years ago was the channel's biggest USP for TRPs.
'We are a nation of dancers and singers. We love to shake a leg. The popularity of 'Boogie Woogie' is irrefutable. It had to be back. The show was a winner for nine years,' Sony Entertainment Television's Shola Rajachandran told IANS.
Hosting the show would be the trio of trademark dancers - Javed Jaffrey, his brother Naved and Ravi Behl.
In the new format for 'Boogie Woogie', to be telecast over 26 episodes, there would be two championship contests - one for mothers and one for kids.
Mothers between the age of 25 and 55 can participate in the mom's championship.
Auditions for the show are to start from April 24.

All dressed up
What's up with Himesh Reshammiya? His familiar cap and jacket with either a shirt or a T-shirt below it, are well known. But it seems that the music composer is making yet another style statement. He landed on the sets of Boogie Woogie wearing both a tee as well as a shirt below his jacket. He looked comfy as he grooved to his tracks Naam Hai Tera and Mujko Yaad Sathaye Teri as well as composed a special track for this Friday's episode of the Sony dance show. With so many layers of clothing, what is he trying to prove? That he is a multi-layered person, we think.
It's boogie time for kids!!! | ||
Since the first month of its launch, the second season of Boogie Woogie has already made waves with an amazing viewer response. And now in its new, bigger & better avataar, the show is all set to small screen on fire with some stupendous performances with Boogie Woogie - Kids Championship.
Starting July 14, this popular dance show will have 22 energetic kids of different age groups, (below 15 years) showcasing their best talent to win the championship title. These kids are selected after auditions from all over India and they come from Guwahati to Chennai, Bijnore to Rourkela…and from all over India. The elimination rounds will be judged by Anupam Kher, whom the kids simply enjoyed grilling, Shekhar Suman, who shocked the young ones with his Mithunda dances & Annu Kapoor with his fun-filled repertoire that kids simply loved. There was much fun & dancing between the kids & the celebrities. The other rounds at semi finals are 'dance with the partner of your choice-mum, dad, brother, sister, friend…' and 'dance with celebrities'. Finally, one super kid gets the championship title and prize money of Rs. 5 lakhs! "It is so much fun to watch the performance of these kids who are so full of energy. The experience is so inspiring especially to watch these youngsters put in their best efforts and compete with enthusiasm, high energy and the will power to succeed. We're sure these kids will definitely make a mark in the industry!"- said hosts Naved, Javed & Ravi So be ready to see the future pop stars rock-n-roll, especially for you on Boogie Woogie! |
judge dread: Anupam Kher |
Dance like Anupam
Imagine Anupam Kher taking to the stage to shake a leg. Considering that we've not seen him putting his two left feet at work for sometime now, it makes us all the more curious. Mr Kher, better known for his histrionic skills, is not staging a show. Instead, the actor will judge contestants on the special children's championship of Boogie Woogie starting July 14. We believe that apart from the 22 kids on the show, Kher has also been making efforts to match his steps to some filmy tunes.
