Because BB2 and BB3 are massive successes. He wants the success and the producers want the money. His only non-sequel movie coming up is that love story with Basu and even that was supposed to be Aashiqui3 before Mukesh Bhatt took his franchise and walked out. But don’t be surprised if KA and Tseries’ marketing and PR to associate the movie with Aashiqui just to get the boost and the audience. Specially if Tseries owns the music rights to Aashiqui2 there’s potential for some drama.

Short term Kartik is making a lot of money and getting an abundance of fame and success. But long term he has to think outside of franchises and sequels because if one of these falters at the box office he’s got nothing to fall back on.
