One of the most publicized tussles in the Indian music scene has been the feud between rappers Honey Singh and Baadshah. There was a time when the two even collaborated with each other. But the two popular rappers had an infamous falling out as their hot-blooded relationship came to an inflexion point. This happened after they left the rap group Mafia Mundeer in 2009. Over the years, they have exchanged several public jabs over the years, keeping their fans both entertained and concerned. The feud has seen various ups and downs as they try to outdo each other in the music scene.
It looked like after fifteen long years, the feud was going to end earlier this year as during his performance at GraFest 2024, Badshah addressed the feud head-on. He acknowledged that he had indeed held a grudge but said that he wanted to move on. He also said that he was unhappy owing to a misunderstanding. Badshah subsequently posted a tweet on X to reaffirm his commitment to ending the feud. But, it looks like the feud is still very much alive.
Recently, Baadshah appeared as a judge on one of India’s most prominent singing reality shows Indian Idol 15. In one of the promos for the show, Baadshah showed off his rapping skills, which did not go unnoticed by most, including his old rival Honey Singh, who did not miss the opportunity to take a dig at Baadshah. Sharing the promo on his Instagram story, Honey Singh wrote, “Aise lyrics likhwane hai bass taqdeer ban jayegi meri” (If I get such lyrics written for me, my fate will certainly change!)
Ironically, both the rappers appeared on the popular YouTube channel The Lallantopn at different times and shared their opinions about the feud. Honey Singh had said, “Narazgi apno se hoti hai sir, parayo se thodi na hoti hai [You might feel let down by those who are close to you, not strangers.]” He had also made it clear that he would never collaborate with Badshah again.
He had said, “Agar Raftaar, Lil Golu, Ikka in teeno ke sath kaam karne ka mauka milega toh mai definately karunga, kyuki ye streets se uthe hue stars hai [If I get an opportunity to work again with Raftaar, Lil Golu or Ikka, I will definitely work with them because they have risen from the streets.]” During Baadshah’s appearance on the channel, he had also said that he did not see them working together ever again. While the feud seems to never end, fans remain hopeful. Never say never, right?
