Thank you so much for drilling some sense here. Nobody has an issue with the Hindu aliases because that's factual. The problem is only with exploiting the code names and never once mentioning the actual names. Further, watering down the pakistani isi terrorism is awful. More so when it's well known that one of the released terrorists, monster masood azhar, went on to carry major terror attacks against India. Further, this hijack wasn't the first attempt to free him.

If a series of 26/11 is made tomorrow, terror apologists like anubhav sinha will say it's okay to call Kasab Samir Dinesh Chaudhuri from Bengaluru because that's the fake identity he was prepared to die with.

IC 814 Survivor says hijackers were called bhola shankar

Following Netflix's 'IC 814' controversy, Pooja Kataria, a survivor of the IC-814 Kandahar hijacking says: "There were 5 terrorists on board the aircraft. Half an hour after the flight took off the terrorists declared that the flight was hijacked. We were nervous. We were asked to keep our heads down. We didn't even know we were in Kandahar. People were having panic attacks, so one of the terrorists named 'Burger', who had a friendly approach, helped people, and made them play 'Antakshari'.

"A terrorist called 'Doctor' gave a lot of speeches on converting to Islam. The other terrorists had code names called 'Bhola' & 'Shankar'. They were calling each other that. The series was made for entertainment purposes, I don't know why people are getting offended...Maybe the (Indian) govt could have tried a commando attack on the aircraft in Amritsar, then then it could not have flown outside India."

Under pressure from the government, Netflix India on Tuesday said it has included the real and code names of the hijackers of the Indian Airlines aircraft depicted in the web series IC814: The Kandahar Hijack.

The web series had triggered a row after a section of viewers objected to the humane projection of terrorists and reference to their Hindu code names, contending that distortion of real identities of hijackers amounted to misrepresentation of historical events.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju summoned the Netflix India's contend head, Monika Shergill, to convey the government's strong disapproval of the depiction of certain elements in the web series

Rightly said. Movies r forever. When we watch movies made decades ago in the 40s or 50s we don’t go around checking facts. Today’s movies will also be watched by tomorrow’s generations. For us this is recent history, we can fact check n correct..but unless the movie is portrayed as purely fiction next gens will take that as fact.

And this isnt a one off thing. Happened with Negi ji’s character in Chak De.

Happened in Jai Bheem.
In 1993, a tribal man named Rajakannu was tortured and killed by SI Anthonysamy, a Christian. Yet, the 2021 movie Jai Bheem, based on this incident, changed Anthonysamy to Gurumoorthy, a Hindu.

But according to this series, Terrorists were hindus.

It is typical hypocrite behavior of BW will show so called facts which will vilify Hindus for no faults of them.

But will use artistic freedom in other things they will show.

People still defend it bcoz as always Hating a political party and blaming hindus for no reason is okay and should be promoted.

If the real names and real story was shown then this same bunch of people would be crying Islamophobia, would be saying hate is spreading, propaganda and other nonsense eveb with facts.
