Amrita was very well-loved during those few years she was mainly active. Vivah was another big hit of hers and she made a better pairing with Shahid than Kareena ever did, who looked too old for him.

But Shraddha definitely outpaced Amrita and has had more longevity so I don't think it's a perfect comparison. The comparison I do think is perfect is Kareena being the original Alia. IF is too obsessed with Kareena to acknowledge this but everything KJo did with Alia is what he originally did or tried to do with Kareena.

Social media wasn't a thing in the 2000s which is why most of Kareena's bad behavior is scrubbed. All you have to do is read her interviews or watch them and remember how horrible and catty she was. She hated all her non-nepo contemporaries and ruthlessly went after them: Preity, Aishwarya, Amisha, Bipasha, Priyanka, etc. Downright racist remarks about Bipasha which would get anyone cancelled today. Took joy in Salman's abuse of Aishwarya and made jokes about that domestic spat on Chalte Chalte's set. It's funny how whenever Kareena did act alongside Bipasha and Priyanka, they stole the show from her. Even though Kareena had more clout and picked roles curated for her (the traditional Indian wife in Aitraaz which she felt would be more accepted by audiences over the vamp). Only never went after Rani because Rani was also from a film family.

Her fans like to say she's calmed down and is more chill after marriage but that's just PR and the way the industry works now, not being as blunt and open about their true selves. You just have to take a peek behind the curtain to see she's still the exact same person and hasn't changed. I saw her fans circulating a video of her arguing for equal pay with Akshay on Good Newzz (posted in the Reddit link below). They were trying to make him out to be a misogynist and her a feminist heroine. Except every comment on the video said Akshay was in the right. He doesn't take a salary so the movie can be produced and then only takes a percentage of the profits. He asked Kareena to do this if she really wants equal treatment, because then she must also produce and invest her own money into her movies like Akshay does at his own risk. He even offered to do so without making her take a risk with her own money, but she still refused. And if she believed so strongly that women should be paid equal, then why were Tabu and Kriti not paid as much as her on The Crew?

When people were agreeing with KJo that these new stars demand salaries like they are established superstars, did they forget that Kareena did the same thing? Wanted as much payment as SRK on Kal Ho Naa Ho and KJo fired her for this. Such arrogance for such a two-bit actress back then and it clearly hasn't changed since all the comments on that video, which was meant as a hit piece against Akshay, pointed out that she still hasn't changed. Still is delusional and thinks people pay to watch movies for her alone.

Shraddha has always been treated like the step-child of the industry, so it's both unsurprising and unfair she isn't getting the kind of acknowledgement and praise that others do. When she talks about not having the kind of privileges that other nepo kids do, she is not wrong. Ain't no prestige in being Shakti Kapoor's daughter.

Comparison to Amrita doesn't make any sense. The demographics and landscape in Bollywood were vastly different 20 years ago. No one destroyed Amrita's career. Others were simply better. You're rewriting history to fit your argument. Mind you, we had Aish, Rani, Preity, Kajol, Kareena, PC, Kat in their prime. We also had Bipasha, Lara, Sushmita, Urmila, Tabu, Konkona, Vidya...just to name a few. We had dozens of actresses around, competition was wide and fierce but open to everyone. Amrita was secondary tier then, but could be considered a top actress if she debuted today. There's not much competition today but we have severe elitist gatekeeping which makes it harder and worse. And Alia and Jhanvi are absolutely actively destroying careers today.

Popcorn lao yaar

Everyone and their baccha should know that stree franchise is NOT a heroine centric one. Not yet.

Cos it's a buddy movie. Shraddha has as much screen time as DP did in padmavati.

Or john in wazir?

Films ran cos of people's appreciation and goodwill of part one.

No part of me went for Shraddha Kapoor coz she was that inconsequential as an actor. What I remembered from part 1 was Rajkumar rao, pankaj, and the dorky 2 friends.

I saw the movie recently and you are damn right…Shraddha was really wasted in the film! other than the entry scene, she was entirely forgettable and her dialogue delivery was mechanical as usual and don’t even get me started on her expressionless face. Plus she does not even play the title character, so forget protagonist!

The men were not only the heart and soul of the movie but they all did the heavy lifting. And Rajkumar Rao was the proper main lead.
