Yes, it wasn't a failure (like certain people want to make it)...but hit or not hit, it had been one of the Hirani-movies with a story to ponder about...and an original one (no twisted book adaptation, no wihitewashing biopic, no one-sided religious satire), based on experiences lived by Indian people.
Hirani working with SRK (after 2010 and the MyNameIsKhan movie...and especially after 2015 and SRK's remark relative to intolerance) already was a bold move (which SRK supported by producing the movie as he had told Hirani he would do a movie with him when hr agrees making a movie produced by RedChillies and not VVChopra).
