Even if people didn't got offended tourists will not feel safe now to visit Maldives.

I won't say Maldives was safe earlier too. This happened in Ritz Carlton -

All that hotel did was to subdue this matter and throw out that tourist.

Lets see the background of these people

Good luck to them. You can stand on your own with the Chinese support. Check with Pakis - they will probably tell you it's working very well for them.

^^^Here we go with the selective rape tweets from Nathupyare again. What is with this members rape news obsession? How is this relevant to this thread?

This member has a history of constantly weaponizing rape news to take jibes at different cultures and countries. It’s highly disturbing to see sexual assault and rape being weaponized to pass a narrative.

I can understand people's agendas....some aren't Indian at all, some despise the ruling regime but I don't know how an INDIAN cannot be offended by this. smiley36

Why are self proclaimed feminists so much against bringing awareness to women safety in Maldives? I was just bringing awareness to a well known incident that happened in Maldives and the hotel's and Maldives government's apathy towards the incident.

There's one more incident about harassing a married couple ( not related to rape) that I posted in the same post.

Yet this member supari khala keeps attacking me with rape obsession jibes but is still not banned. 🤷

Rape happens in every country and culture. But Nathupyare is the only person on this entire forum who constantly posts tweets about sexual assault and rape of women to show a country/culture in bad light if that country/culture does something to offend India. This is a pattern and it’s a highly disturbing one. Check out his posts on the current affairs forum. He does the same thing there.

As women, we do not come to this forum to be constantly bombarded with news about rape simply being used as a weapon to pass a narrative. It’s disgusting and disturbing.

Common people do not go to Maldives, it is the upper middle class, Bollywood, wealthy business.

The PM of India showed the beauty of Lakshadweep, which is a part of India and asked people to travel and see the place.

Fyi Lakshadweep and Maldives are in a similar geography so the islands are beautiful.

India makes up more than 30% of travel to Maldives, even if 10% of that goes to India places, it will help the economy.

Maldives ministers screwed up by making fun and in fact were being racist to Indians.

Also unlike middle East where a lot of celebs own property, no one has a stake in Maldives.

This racism against Maldives pissed a lot of people off and were called out on social media. This was quite an organic outrage which was also helped by the IT cell.

In this climate it is the Bollywood folks who actually travel to Maldives, when Akshay, Salman started promoting Lakshadweep the rest had to follow as now if a Bollywood celeb promotes Maldives they would be trolled and boycotted

It was not against Modi but the racism against India that outraged people.

Maldives relies heavily on India for tourism plus a lot of Maldive population come to India for medical treatment. It was damage control by government to fire their ministers.

Actually, people of Indian orgin make up even more than 30%. Lots of NRI Indians for example go to these places and are not counted in the statistics.

Not really. Those people elected those racist anti-Indians as their representatives, didn't they? So why shouldn't the fall out be against that country. You cant be electing racist leaders and then say its not the will of the people.smiley2
