But Kareena being a nepo kid was a factor too since she had a lot of flops for a few years yet kept getting more and more movies (Jab we met was her first big hit in years from what I remember)

Dont agree.

Kareena stuck out like a sore thumb in her initial movies. After doing some 10-15 flops, she started giving decent performance.

10-15 movies ke baad to koi b sikh jayega.

And poo is the worst character to ever been created. No matter who gets to act it.

Could be. Raveena recently gave an interview where she said (without taking name) that Karishma used to cry to Govinda and David Dhawan requesting them to not cast Raveena in their movies.

Yeah to think of it Ameesha never did any big production house movies ( yrf / KJo / dhawan / ghai ) as they all had their favorites somehow - and that must have affected her run even though she fit the bill of 90s actress perfectly.

Compared to the top 90s-2000s actresses she had no real screen presence and charisma. She was going against Aish, Rani and Preity who were all far more popular. Kareena flopped a lot but still stood out at least until the second half of the decade when her "rise" began.

There is no way Ameesha could deliver a Jab We met tbh

It's not necessary for every actress to do JWM to prove herself, epic that it is, pop cultural phenomena that it is, best movie of the century that it is

I mean Sridevi, Meryl Streep, Meena Kumari, Alia Bhatt, DP, PC didn't do JWM

If she had been offered movies after movies, AP might've found her own JWM too

Exactly! How can we say that ?

Ameesha was as good or bad as Raveena, kareena, Shilpa Shetty in the initial movies.

Obviously but that was just an example of a memorable role. DP, PC etc. still had plenty of those even if they didn't have a huge pop culture phenomenon on the same level as JWM.

Like DP had Cocktail, YJHD and shined in CE (it could have been another cheap flowerpot role). I just don't think Ameesha had the skills for that, in her biggest hits like Gadar, Humraaz or KNPH she didn't really add much. She was just kind of there. That's worse than Kareena's over the top perfromances like in K3G where everyone remembers her

And Shilpa Shetty was never that popular, she was nowhere near the top actresses. Same for Raveena. They just stuck around so they are more known than Ameesha but there was never a year where they dominated

A true comparison is

Aap mujhe aschhe lagne lage vs Mein prem ki deewani hoon.

Kaante ki takkar by 2 actresses. Once in a lifetime performances.

Same over acting ki dukan wala hero with them and yet they held their fort. Bravo. Someone should start the gif war between these movies.

The thing is, despite giving back to back huge hits, the films were not hits due to her -- she was just lucky to get work in them. No one came to the theater to watch KNPH; the film became hit due to Hrithik, the music and storyline etc. Same for Gadar - I doubt she was the main attraction for the film. I mean Gracy Singh also gave Lagaan and Munna Bhai, but no one remembers her either. Just because you have hits doesn't mean you are 'hit'.

Also despite being beautiful, she was never a fan favorite or hugely popular.

By mid 2000s, other promising stars came and she fizzled out.
