Truth remains that KK had more number of hits post 2005 which are still enjoyed today and Shaan gave some massive hits with YRF urban films.

Himesh has been a major selling point for all his songs, it never matter who it was picturised on or who sang it, as long as HR's name was on it, it was already a hit. That man is a brand in himself.

Its not about Sonu's dependency on other composers. It is who those composers preferred for their songs. Just like Nadeem-Shravan preferred Kumar Sanu and Anuradha in the 90s, everyone had their own choice of singers based on their songs. Sonu did not have that music director-singer combo with anyone, but that does not take away from his success.

You wanna do YouTube analysis of an era where there was no YouTube "dominance"? Sure that'll work perfectly.

And dude, saying things like "had he stuck to a particular composer..." is just plain wrong. You're insulting both the composers and the other singers of that era.

The composers chose their singers, not the other way around. A singer does not make the offer of singing a song, he/she accepts or rejects when they are offered a number. Music directors hold the utmost importance, so don't make it sound like your favourite is superior in the pyramid of songwriting-singing.

And btw, no singer stuck to a composer back in the day, if Pritam chose KK or Mohit Chauhan for his songs and they accepted, there is no sticking. It was a magical pairing and this remains a fact.

i just named the hits of kk and shaan on the post and besides that they had no songs during that period while sonu has been consistently used during 2006-2009 and sung more hits than kk and shaan, KK and Shaan does got few songs but in Sonu case he got more hits than kk and shaan was getting during that time ,,,,

and yeah even in 90's as someone rightly corrected he there was no huge monoply of udit , kumar , anuradha , alka ,,,,,infact spb and abhijeet were also singing before sonu came in ,,,, so there never was any monoply but yeah besides kumar sanu who was more active during 1990-95 and thats what he was in after these time kumar sanu faded out of bollywood in late 90 , while sonu has been used consistently during 1997-2009 period

Yes in 2006-2009 Sonu wasn’t most popular and that’s a fact Jack 😆

If Sonu dominated even one year it was 2004 or 2005. He sang in bulk then 😂 But that’s about it

Sonu dominated the entire 2000 as he was the one who was regular part of srk, salman, akshey, hirtik films, Sonu had sung more songs than any other singer in early 2000 part he used to sing 4-5 songs in albums be it kabhi khushi kabhi ghum, tum bin, tera jadoo chal gaya, Dulhan hum lejaynege, jodi no 1, infact film like chori chori chupke chupke had 1 song of babul and 1 song of udit and 2 songs of sonu then films like rehna ha tere dil main, 1 2 ka four, muskaan, apko pehle bhi khain dekha hai sonu got 4 songs udit had 1, pyar tune kya kiya, mujhse shaadi karogi, mujhse dosti krogi etc etc etc etc .... and then after 2004-2009 sonu had more songs than kk shaan in respective years ..

Arsy forgets that post 2000s, quantity did not equal to quality. 😆

So it does not matter who sang more, whether the song clicked or not is the question 😆

More or less sonu has done quality work in what ever he had sung, even if we listen one two ka four where he had sung romantic like khamoshiyan gungnane lage and at the other end he had sung Osaka moriya which is a different kind of songs, you would never find sonu singing similar kinds of songs again and again which was the case with 90s mainstream

Well in 2006-2009 Srk had hit songs from Shaan as did Salman. Salman also started using Wajid a lot. Even KK

Salmans comeback film Wanted had no Sonu at all. How can he be left off the album 🤣

I mean Aamir also. Aamirs big song of this time was Chand Sifarish. An that was Shaan. He had some Sonu songs but nothing as big as CS.

Sonu was a success between 2006-2009 but did not dominate at all.

he wasn’t on Love Aaj Kal album or APKGK or BAH

Infact I’d say

Zara Se

Chand Sifarish

Jab Se Tere Naina

Khuda Jaane

Aakhon Mein Teri

5 popular songs from this three years and no Sonu

So sad too bad 😂
