Rekha did get married. She is a widow. Her husband Mukesh died by suicide. He was reportedly a Delhi based businessman.

Just because she does not talk about that chapter in her life now, or dresses up in finery, it does not mean she was never married.

I sometimes wonder if she avoids talking about her late husband to avoid pain of those memories or did she never love him at all and had no attachment to him?

Rekha was blamed for his suicide and almost projected as a national vamp then. Anupam Kher even went to extent of saying publicly that no one will want an actress as wife or bahu after this. Rekha became a recluse for some time in early 90s. She returned to limelight only later when blame game and brickbats, theories, speculations around her husband's death stopped. She purposely avoids reference to her husband.

Partly why her wearing sindoor generated controversies was some old timers wondering why she wore sindoor being a widow. It was not just Amitabh link which made people question her wearing sindoor.

Yes Rekha was said to have been secretly married to her Ghar co star Vinod Mehra too.

There was a book on her which she herself got banned or withdrawn from book stores. It is said the book had all details of her life and family.

Anyway she does have a complicated life and tells a lot less than what may have actually happened. I sometimes feels she indulges in glamour or latches on to Amitabh affair angle to divert focus from rest of aspects of her life.

I personally would have preferred to focus only on her work, professional life rather than all speculations she or media fan about her personal life.

If there is one actress who has had weirdest rumours circulating around her it is Rekha. She has hardly done much to quell or address those rumours.

Yeah she is Deepika's idol, still pining for an ex.

Yes. Unless the rumours were true and they are still having palang tod secret banging sessions, she’s hung up on a century old relationship.

The sindoor antic of hers is not something she started recently or post her marriage to the Delhi business man. At the height of Rekha Amitabh affair rumours she attended Rishi and Neetu's wedding (where Amitabh and Jaya were also guests) wearing sindoor. Isn't that peak attention seeking who else will do something like that on someone elses wedding. Later she laughed it off saying she forgot to take off the sindoor after pack up, it was a fashion trend in the city she comes from. lol...

So I will say the sindoor thing is definitely something she does to seek attention and to keep people speculating about her love life and affairs. Which other actress from her era have such rumours and scandals surrounding her till date apart from Rekha. Sometimes I do feel bad for her knowing what she went through. She never had a normal childhood or family and as an adult never got the companionship or love she clearly craved, never got the chance to create an ideal family for herself the one she never had a child.
