Was Govinda a versatile actor?

I think Govinda mainly played two types of characters in his films during 90s.

Mostly it was a "street smart" guy, or a "sweet innocent boy next door" guy in some films. Basically he just played the same character in every film. With same body language, mannerisms and dialogue delivery.

Then why people think Govinda was a versatile actor? In my opinion he was not versatile as in playing different characters in every film, but versatile in showing every type of emotion perfectly. He is one of the expressive actors in Bollywood. Even without speaking just his face expressions could say a thousand words.

Whether it's anger, hurt, fear, happiness, anxiety...he could express it all. But people always loved him the most when he gave comic performances. He was great in voice modulation as well while expressing different types of emotions.

Do you think Govinda was a versatile actor?

Good actor? Yes. Versatile? Not exactly. I have mostly seen him in either too serious roles or the comic ones.He was more good at doing the latter, serious roles me he was kinda awkward

I would say YES as he is the full package for a bollywood hero 👍🏼 He can act, dance and also has expressions to top it up

He is mostly known for his comic roles and entertained immensely.. But his serious roles are also good and he emotes well whether it's crying or anger and he has done some action scenes even well 👍🏼

Didn't matter much to me, I enjoyed whatever the hell acting he was doing. Nobody else was doing it, so, whatever it was, it was original

You think he's not good in serious roles? I think he's great in them too.

He is not bad in them for sure, but I find him more good in comic roles.

Govinda was naturally gifted actor because could express so well with ease without even trying, be it in any situation where it demands. Anger, laughter, romance, sadness, there were rumours aamir khan use to secretly go to his shoots or stage performance and spy on his ability as an expressive actor and try to take back what he seen. Its his downside that he did not pursue different types of role after becoming a comedian to experiment with his ability
