That's just the reality. It's like comparing Tom Cruise's superstardom and charisma to a Daniel Day Lewis, where the latter is pure talent and a true blue thespian.

It is only in his old age that the Big B has tried on different acts (so obviously he has grown) and he has done it admirably but Naseer has acted circles around him and everyone else since the time he came on the scene.

He may have a sharp tongue and strong opinions but I do feel he has earned his stripes, a male Kangana he is not. His legacy is fine.

Saat Hindustani (debut movie for which he got national award) ,Bombay to Goa,Zanjeer,Milli, Abhimaan, Saudagar, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Sholay, Aanand, Trishul, Shakti, Deewar, Kabhi Kabhi, Kala Pathar, Kasme Waade, Namak Haraam, Namak Halaal, Roti Kapda aur Makaan, Adalat, Faraar, Adalat, Zameer- These are just a few movies from the first few years of his career until 1975.

I didn’t even name his iconic acts in so many more movies like Don etc. which came in a little later.

Amitabh can do everything that Naseer has done but Naseer can never do a Amar Akbar Anthony or a Namak Halaal or a Deewar or a Do aur do paanch or Agneepath. Neither can he do Rajesh Khanna’s Aaradana, Amar Prem, Kati Patang etc.

He is a good actor and so is Amitabh. But Amitabh trumps him in versatility and relatability! He is Tom cruise+Daniel Day Lewis+Al Pacino +Naseer - all rolled into one!

This is the first time I am reading that Amitabh is a bad actor only popular because of his screen presence. 😳

You're reading what you want to read- I never said Amitabh is a bad actor. He is a good actor but he is a superstar first and foremost and that is his appeal. Naseer is and has always been the superior actor.

Ask any actor worth his salt- from Irfan to Manoj to Rajkumar Rao- any real actor has called him the greatest actor in the country.

The reason this thought is so baffling to you is because of AB's larger-than-life persona, but that does not mean he is the more talented actor. He isn't even the most talented actor in his own family- Jaya beats him there- he has often conceded it himself.

Obviously success is not the only barometer of acting ability. But this doesn't imply he is a BAD actor

You are obviously an Amitabh hater and ignorant of his filmography and acclaim he got as an ACTOR.

Not meant to be taken seriously if someone says Jaya is more talented than Amitabh or Amitabh is not the most talented actor in his own family either.

Go and READ what critics and filmmakers have written about Amitabh's acting skills, controlled body language, voice modulation, versatility over the last 5 decades. Then talk.

Amitabh is the greatest star actor of all time. Not just a superstar.

I am not a hater, since when does any nuanced discussion of acting and performances make anyone a "hater"? It's a childish assessment, unworthy of this discussion, probably the only time I will qualify as a hater is in my irrational dislike of Kangana for her off screen antics.

And yes, not only have I READ what critics have said- i am also a viewer with my own two eyes. Go watch Koshish, Guddi, Abhimaan (again he was outacted by Jaya), Mili (ditto) to appreciate Jaya's prowess. She was not an FTII topper for nothing. Amitabh has referred to it several times.

I don't know what the greatest "star actor" of all time means though? It means he's better than Dilip Kumar? Prithvi Raj Kapoor? Raj Kapoor? Guru Dutt? All a matter of your opinion, I get that.

In many ways it is comparing chalk and cheese and is a bad comparison. A better comparison would be AB and Dilip Kumar or AB and SRK even.

Naseer is a different animal- he can act in any medium- theatre, films, tv- AB has not done anything except film to help us understand his skills (Again, before you jump down my throat I am not talking of his undeniable superstardom and screen presence and all the accolades that have come with it), I am simply talking about mastery of the craft of acting (which is not just film and commercial films alone). As I said, Naseer is widely regarded as one of the greats who totally changed the game, by luminaries like Irfan and Manoj and Raj, from within the profession. Obviously, there is no comparison with the connect AB has had with the masses and he is a powerful actor who has reinvented himself in his second innings, but that is not what we were discussing.

Amitabh is ANYDAY better than Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand because he succeeded in all genres. Guru, Dilip, Raj cannot do action, comedy to even save their lives. Guru Dutt was a tragedy specialist. Even his romantic films are sombre. Dilip Kumar was good at all genres but could not do action to even save his life. Raj Kapoor and Dev could not do action either and Raj's comic timing is limited.

Amitabh succeeded in every genre and gave memorable hits in every genre. That is why he has had better longevity than any actor in history of Indian cinema.

Amitabh was appreciated in Yudh on TV even if it did not get TRPs. He has beaten every actor in non fiction with success of KBC. Your Naseer has failed as a host on TV and failed at romance and action as well. He is a failure in commercial cinema except as a villain in Mohra perhaps.

Amitabh has proven his skills in every genre, films, TV, non fiction.

Anyway he even won elections by unheard of majority and his political debut is a blockbuster. Naseer only rants but has no guts to stand in election and will not even get votes from his own community let anyone else.

Greatest star actor of all time are awards and global polls he has won. Even when there was no internet or PR. Not my opinion. He won the BBC global poll. Not just some Filmfare or Mayapuri poll. His list of honours is there for anyone to see.

Jaya was a bigger star than him in late 60s and early 70s. But never as versatile as him if entire career was considered.

As for FTII, even Vinod, Danny and Shatru won gold medal there. They never surpassed Amitabh. One of them ran away in frustration to an ashram when even at his so called peak he could still not surpass Amitabh.

Not sure what political clout has to do with acting. No Naseer would not win, from "his community" (he is an atheist/marxist) nor by any other community- again since we are talking purely about acting ability.and not mass appeal, I'm not sure how that's relevant.

You're a fan, clearly of AB, and no, he is not "my" Naseer, I m just stating an objective opinion, that any person not buying into a star's aura would be able to tell you.

Again, AB better than Dilip Kumar? Better than Guru Dutt? I am not being disrespectful but that's very questionable and those very same critics you referred to, would also disagree.

But I ll leave it here.

Of course AB is better than Dilip and Guru Dutt because he has more range and versatility than them. Dilip Kumar cannot do action to even save his life. Guru Dutt was only good in tragic roles. No comic timing or action.

I am not saying it as a fan but as a fact.

Only Kamal Haasan can be called better actor than Amitabh. Not any Bollywood actor for sure. Kamal is the only one who has shown more skill and versatility, range than Amitabh as an actor and is also an exceptional dancer than Amitabh or any Hindi actor before Hrithik, never was.
