Papa was the entire launch pad without which he might not had sky rocketed..But once high above with success , the thing has to establish itself in the orbit by itself by merit & luck , mostly..

Before 2019 Hrithik was a bit done and dusted. Fail films and no releases at all hurt him. So even if S30 became a hit It wasnt as much grosser as lets say Baaghi 2. I do think for War both Hrithik/Tiger deserve equal credit for opening

@bold, because I supported your favorite. Most of the times I don't.😆

Hrithik helped Rakesh Roshan more than Rakesh Roshan helped Hrithik. This is not a justification of Hrithik didn't need his Dad's help to become a Superstar.

We're talking about Rakesh's effect in Hrithik's career. Not Hrithik's effect on Rakesh's career.

His biggest Hits are with his dad except Dhoom 2 and War. Remove them from his filmography and let's see where he stands.

Yet Baaghi 3 - a sequel in an action franchise - on the heels of the success of War opened to 17c.

Why not compare Super 30 to STOY 2 since they came out a couple of months apart. Not just their opening their entire run since Tiger was said deserves equal credit if not more than Hrithik for it's success - not just it's opening.

Yes Tiger contributed to the opening, especially in context to him going up against his idol. I'd say maybe a 1/3rd but in comparison to Hrithik far fewer were talking about Tiger after the teaser or trailer let alone after the movie opened. Not even Jackie came out of War and thought - wow that really worked because of Tiger. Just because a movie opens to 50c doesn't mean it makes 300c+. See Thugs.

His father gave him such a blockbuster debut in kaho na pyaar hai and he became an overnight star ! Majority of the success goes to papa roshan.

If having a father's influence could guarantee superstardom, then Uday Chopra and Abhishek bacchan would've been the biggest stars.

Yes, Hrithik's big hits are directed by his father, but that doesn't negate the fact that the genre of superhero wouldn't even exist had Hrithik not been the only actor who could live up to the aura.

In 2000, apart from khnph, mission Kashmir did very well too, and that too it clashed with Mohabbatein. I believe that wasn't something where Rakesh Roshan would've an influence.

Hrithik's last movie with his father was Krrish3. Post that he still remained one of the top 5 actors, irrespective of his gap years and biggest debacle in the form of mohenjodaro. In fact he rejected Thugs, which was a debacle too ironically.

All I want to say is that, Hrithik would still be the last superstar of the past twenty years irrespective of his father's influence, because someone who's talented and hardworking would always find a way. He's always been dedicated for his craft, he explores new genres, signs different characters onscreen, looks good, acts brilliantly and can suit into any character given to him, so there's no doubt that he would be where he's today. He's probably one of the rare industry kids who actually cared and respected the opportunities he's got instead of being arrogant about it.

And War is War because it was a Hrithik movie first and then it was tiger's, I believe tiger contributed to the opening but the film sustained only because it was Hrithik back in his Desi Tom Cruise avatar, nobody in Bollywood can do such cool and mindless action as well as Hrithik does then onscreen.

If the question is what would HR have been without Rakesh, you have to look at it with what son has done for papa, too. Also, for other filmmakers. Because that tells us the makeup of the individual artist, not just the son. It's the only way to judge what he'd have been without Rakesh.

Answer: successful, except it would've taken him much longer.

Same answer can be given for Ranbir and Karisma Kapoor. Ekta Kapoor, too.

Because all of the above got their start with their connections but built on it to become wildly successful.

Not for Varun Dhawan or Alia Bhatt or Kareena Kapoor or Kajol because their entire careers have been built around their connections, not their hits.

Let’s say out of all nepotism products he has the looks and it’s the only one out of the rest where I would say he would have found his way into the industry even without the connections and privilege he has right now.

Talent wasn’t visible for anyone in their first movies. The privilege most of them had was to be already on film sets learn and see how all of this work without literally doing anything or getting Chances to go to some international film schools or whatever and then we say they have talent 😆 when most of them are trained since their childhood.

But good looking people always find a way into Bollywood that’s why I would say Hrithik would still manage it and with time his X factor would still get him far later on.

I would give more credit for rakesh roshan than hrithik

People say because of hrithik looks and dance he would be super hit anyways

Nope look at other handsome star sons

Like shashi kapoor son karan kaoor he looked like hollywood star too

Or Rajeev kapoor Raj kapoors son was another flop

Or Kumar Gaurav another star son was a flop

Or bobby Deol another star son was another flop

Or Shatrugan Sinhas sons

Or Karishmas cousin brothers

Many had looks or some were good actors too like kumar gaurav, bobby deol

Lets leave star sons, look at other heroes with great looks John abhraham, dino morea, arjun rampal, vikram saluja, jas arora etc all would super stars if looks and dance etc were crterai of success

All of them flopped because they did not have fathers producing and directing them again and again actually

So Rakesh Roshan must get more credit for making son a super star here than hrithik making him successful director

Rakesh best film is still khon bhari maang made 35 years ago not some alien movie copied from ET of Spielberg or a kail again copy of hollywood movie

If hrithik was not there Rakesh would still have made movies with top stars and been successful

I think amir would have been good choice for koi mil gaya hero role if hrithik was not there

later they made PK where amir was an alien copy of koi mil gaya only similar story alien left behind
