There are only 5 or 6 actors MAX that can provide an opening. What are filmmakers supposed to do when they can't get those 5 or 6? They would still want to make their films, wouldn't they? That's where people like Arjun Kapoor come in. Bringing in someone brand new is even harder. You know how much money it takes to introduce and publicize someone new? They won't do any better than the likes of Arjun Kapoor anyway in financial terms.
That's how guys like Shahid Kapoor lasted for 20 years. They were just kind of around so if you can't get the big stars, you get someone who is a known face like Shahid.
