Why Trump supporter????? Here in India, we have 1000 times worse racists and bigots to compare. In America, we can at least they are xenophobic towards the foreigners and their culture, which they do not understand. Here in India, the hatred is towards the Indians (Muslims & Christians) who have been living here Since centuries, along with Hindus. They are not foreigners or migrants, but still treated worse. And many of the MP’s and MLA β€˜s spewing hate and bigotry day in day out.

But how is class discrimination, elitism, and looking down on the less privileged any better than racism or resentment towards a particular group of people? To me, they all serve the same purpose--marginalizing a particular group of people and acting like you're high and mighty compared to them.

Giving a preferential treatment to the "blue bloods" within bollywood and selling them as inherently superior to the audience looks just as diabolical to me too. And then these people create talk shows where they think they are uniquely qualified to define other people's reality by elevating and demeaning whoever they want in the public eye. PREJUDICE is what these people thrive on.

To me, Bollywood looks like a socially accepted institution with significant barriers to the well-being of the less privileged cuz the audience is willing to look past the prejudices. And even the ones who make it to the top are bullied and suppressed systematically. People can wrap that up with the english slogan "nepotism is normal and everywhere" but can't digest KR's tweets? I mean, I understand Islamophobia is nothing to defend but in this context where people are willing to accept the malpractices of bollywood, I don't get how they can create such an uproar over KR alone.

To those people, I say either speak against all kinds of prejudices, or drop the act.

Elitism is better than Racism, any day. How can you even compare ? Elitism doesn’t hurt anyone except may be the prrson himself and the ppl around him. But, the racist, communal tweets by Kangana are dangerous and can easily incite violence in this sensitive climate.

Also the way he wrote bout the Elle journalist shows the class of this fake nawab.

oh yeah the misogyny.. did he address that in the "reflection" interview?

I can't speak for bollywoodbuff but the way I see it, unfair generalization goes both ways. If you're offended by what he wrote, you also generalized him as an Islamophobe. That also creates an artificial distinction and implies that you're morally better than him.

This might not be the right place or time to bring thing up but a lot of people are baffled by how there is a disproportionate share of violence in the world associated with radical Muslim exremists.... much like why there's so much violence in African-American neighborhoods since you brought up the BLM comparison. Not everyone who asks that question without mincing words or wonders about it are racists and Islamophobic. It can also stem from lack of knowledge or genuine curiosity based on stats and what they see in the news. You might find it offending but would you rather people not say the word or sugarcoat it cuz they're too cowed by political correctness? Does trying to have that conversation candidly make them an Islamophobe if they're open to other ideas/views?

None of us here know him but how easy was it for you to demonize him and pretend like you captured the complete essence of what he's saying or where his opinions come from. Like I said, trigger happy.

I'll let him take it from here if he decides to clarify what he was talking about.

If I'm saying his statement reeks of islamaphobia; it's no different than you all concluding all those things about Saif based on his letter. What's the difference?

Making statements about an INDIVIDUAL is very different than making stereotyped statements about ethnic or religious groups.

Those statements are full of stereotyping.

Saif was trying to sound intellectual but it blew up in his face. People roasted him for his stupidity and it's all there in his letter for people to make their own judgment calls. I found it unintentionally funny and laughed it off but plenty of people found it downright offensive. Different people come with different triggers and thresholds. Are you really gonna compare Saif's letter to bollywoodbuff's post now and mimic people's response to saif's letter and take it out on members here now? Jesus ...

I already said my piece about those stereotypical statements. We're just gonna have to wait for bollywoodbuff to clarify his position.

Which members am I taking it out on? The member made a post supporting Kangana's islamaphobic tweets inciting communal division. I can call that member out on it. 90% of members in this thread have shit on Saif, did I make any statements on them? Because none of them supported and mirrored Kangana's communal tweet. Why are you trying to twist it in this way?

Racism is racism. There's no point comparing it to elitism and what not. There are different vices in the world, but some are clearly worse than others.

Racism and communal hate are clearly worse. That's wishing ill onto someone else and holding disdain in heart for someone.

That was my take as well. Racism and communal hatred leads to violence and so much more. Especially in light of the Black Lives Matter movement. It's the same thing. It's prejudice against a certain ethnic/racial group.

Blacks are to America was Muslims are to India.

I agree, and I was thinking of posting when I saw that clip sometime back.

If you carefully listen to him:

1. He's just stating that it was tone deaf on his part, he's too privileged to be talking about privilege, it was a mistake to say that, etc. Never once does he say that he doesn't believe in what he wrote. My inference is, he still believes in the concept of races, the way horses maintain their race and winners are frequently used to get good breed racing horses, he still thinks humans also behave like that. A pure superior race will bred much better breed of humans. This is downright racism out there in his head.

2. What's that crap about Greek mythology. I've read The Odyssey (not completed, I admit) but what has that got to do with nepotism? Was he just trying to sound cool there?

3. My, again inference, is that Kareena agrees with his take on nepotism. He mentioned Kareena agrees usually with his thoughts. Then was about to clarify her stand on this issue, when he suddenly maybe envisioned her standing with a stick glaring at her, and backed off and blurted some gibberish to end that line. πŸ˜‚

I mean it's okay to be a closet racist (not), but one shouldn't feel bad when called out as such....
