Did anyone actually say this? we all agree that death/rape threats are completely condemnable, and short of people ceasing to make those threats, what other way is there to avoid disgusting comments other than ignoring/blocking/cancelling, or changing account to private?

How is this the equivalent of asking girls to cover up to avoid rape? If I block comments, I can still post whatever I want on instagram, in real life, I can't block criminals from attacking me.

100% in agreement with Soni Razdan. No two ways about it.

Believe me, even though criminals may just be 1-2% of the population, people with criminal intentions are in much larger numbers. The fear of law and order is keeping them away from pursuing these criminal activities.

However, Internet gives you anonymity, and since accountability is not possible with anonymity, it brings out the vilest, cruelest side of people.

And we ought to fix that. I don't know the possible solutions, but the energies should be focused towards fixing this.

One possible solution could be reporting an account should straight away launch a cyber complaint against the account. Instagram or Twitter could then share the email address/IP address and other details with the police agencies so that they may arrest the culprit and bring them to justice.

Another solution could be, all our accounts should be linked to some ID card, like a social security number or Aadhar card, so that would end anonymity once and for all.

Idk, how realistic these solutions are but I am sick and tired of people getting away after sending abusive messages and threats.

Well I didn't see anyone mocking except varied opinions unless I missed those posts!

I think solutions you suggested aren't any actual solutions as this is what people already do when they receive online abuse and threats.

Ignoring/blocking isn't a solution because the abuse is verbal and you would already have been subjected to abuse before ignoring/blocking, so that doesn't solve anything. Even if you block, creating a new account hardly takes a minute, so no matter what, you can never truly block such messages.

The don't use social media solution you suggested is akin to "don't step outside the house at night/don't wear such clothes." By placing the onus on the victims and not the perpetrators, you are following the same problematic trope that is used against victims when they ask for change.

The point was, how organizations like Instagram or Twitter are saying they cannot help with such messages and will not take down such accounts no matter what. So the fight is institutional and the solutions need to be focused towards what we can do to help without hampering the freedom of the victims.

Why now??? Coz now the discussion has shifted to the vile politics that some of the pr heads play along with the help of reporters and some big names ? Coz now Soni cannot put everything on mental health. Let's play victim card when nothing seems to work.

Because this is on another level, she is getting rape and death threats! The scale of this abuse is so much bigger, before she would probably get a few abusive tweets but now its hundreds and sometimes thousands, people actually want to ruin these stars lives

And the same is happening to kjo, sonam, sonakshi, varun, tiger, ananya and so many others, even deepika and ranveer are getting so many abusive tweets, i saw some celebrating that big b and abhishek got corona saying this is karma for what the industry did to ssr, i mean people are blaming anyone and anything, it makes no sense

There is no evidence that says nepotism is the reason ssr took his own life, there is no evidence that indicates that any of these stars are the reason for his death, so why are people blaming them without any factual evidence? People shouldnt just come up with theories and present them as the reason for sushants death, that is not fair on anyone

This why now question can be directed to ppl suddenly abusing nepo kids too after sushanths demise

those interviews they quote, those stars they point out existed even prior to sushanths demise..why does it take his parting for ppl to call all this out? Why now?

Coz Ppl react to a situation this drastic ...and accusations this drastic...simple

what bhatt a said abt mental health and sushanth was insensitive period and not supporting that...merely condoning that ppl question why they got irked..accusing someone of being responsible of a persons demise (even indirectly) is drastic and huge..ofcourse they will react

This, with all due respect, is definitely not a good idea and cannot/should not be implemented. What about people like whistle blowers who post something on an Internet forum or bulletin board? Their identity needs to continue to be protected by the law. If you link someone's posts to their SSN/government ID, what is stopping any intolerant person, company, organization, government from coming after those who are dissenting, or victims of crime, domestic abuse not being followed by their abusers? This would go against the whole idea of right of privacy. It just sets a bad precedent.

There have to be some other fixes for this issue.

Ya truth hit hard tat public rejected so dis pseudo victim card now n scaring public tactics to suppress voices , it's fine nepo mafia stop playing god n quit n stop whining n stop forcing public n move on in lives , there are many more other options , not supporting threats . interrogate bhatts n take action on them also .

Not everyone is "abusing" nepo kids. Many people are calling out nepotism and how outsiders are treated, people woke up to it too late but at least now it can raise the awareness of how outsiders are treated so that the industry gets better. It's absurd to lump every civil criticism with abusers.
