Ranbir Kapoor defeats Salman Khan and Aamir Khan by making a new record at the box office. Sanju emerges as the third highest grosser ever.
anju, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, is unstoppable at the box-office! Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju is based on the rollercoaster ride life of superstar Sanjay Dutt. The film sheds light on the early life of Sanjay Dutt, his relationship with his parents, his best friend, his drug addiction, and his involvement in the infamous 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. Ranbir has nailed Sanjay Dutt's character with ease and perfection and has received immense love and appreciation for his acting in the film.
And now, according to box office reports, with Rs 341.22 crore, Sanju has emerged as the third highest grossing film ever in the history of Bollywood. With this, Ranbir Kapoor has emerged as the new king of B-town, as his film has defeated the likes of Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan, and Tiger Zinda Hai, and Aamir Khan's PK, to comfortably obtain the third spot on the box office charts. Now, there are only two more films ahead of Sanju, which are Baahubali 2- The Conclusion (Rs 510.99 crore) and Aamir Khan's Dangal (Rs 387.38 crore).
For Ranbir Kapoor, whose earlier films rarely crossed Rs 100 crore, Sanju is the first film to enter the Rs 300 crore club. The film has also become Rajkumar Hirani's highest grossing film of all times. Sanju has recorded the highest opening day collection of 2018, leaving behind Kareena Kapoor Khan's Veere Di Wedding, and Salman Khan's Race 3. It is also the second highest grossing film ever when it comes to first weekend collections.
Even after a month of its release, Sanju is giving a tough time to the fresh releases like Dhadak, Soorma, Fanney Khan, Karwaan, and Mulk among the others. Even Sanjay Dutt's own film Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster could not register itself at the box office due to Sanju.
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, the film also stars Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt, Manisha Koirala as Nargis Dutt, Dia Mirza as Sanjay Dutt's wife Maanayata, and Vicky Kaushal as Sanjay Dutt's best friend Kamlesh.
