After receiving a lukewarm response for his
film Chef, Saif Ali Khan is out to experiment
with his acting and the kind of films he's
doing. Up next on his line is the mad
looking Kaalakaandi where he plays a
Cancer patient trying to squeeze in life in
the time he has left. This only leads him to
what seems like an adventurous ride and it
will be hitting the theatres on January
12th this year.
After Kaalakaandi, Saif Ali Khan is all geared
up for the release of Nikkhil Advani and
Gaurav Chawla's Bazaar which was earlier
supposed to release last year. The film is
about the ups and downs of the stock
market in India and Saif is portraying an
antagonistic Gujrati business man in the
film. Playing the lead protagonist in the film
is debutant Rohan Mehra. When asked
about the film, Saif said, "The intention
of Bazaar was to create a human drama
against the backdrop of the stock market.
My character is like a nasty antagonist.
Rohan Mehra is the hero. It is exciting to
play strong and powerful roles. I don't
distinguish between roles, it is funny. The
idea is even if you play bad, if it is well-
written, people don't think actors are being
evil or nasty,"
Not only this, Saif also believes that despite
Bazaar being a commercial film, it has
broadened his spectrum as an actor, "Not
all commercial films are fluff and sometimes
an actor gets an opportunity to explore
oneself as an artiste. I think commercial
cinema can sometimes give you an
opportunity to do good acting. Because it is
strong and more dramatic. I really enjoyed
that experience of making the commercial
cinema more believable and play it like it is
more real, expressed Saif to a leading daily.
While we all know how good Saif is when
he plays a bad guy, proof being his award
winning acting in Omkara, we are really
excited to see him in that form back on
screen.

Hope this works out for him
Negative roles can be fun and rich to play (and watch) if well written

Kareena should try it too

I don't have a very 'massy' brain: Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan speaks about the choice of his films, downfall in his career and more

While Saif Ali Khan didn't have a great 2017 with his choice of films like "Rangoon" and "Chef" but, the actor is still positive about 2018. While Rangoon badly tanked at the box-office but, "Chef" even after liked by many didn't create a buzz and great numbers at the box-office.

In an interview with a leading daily, "I don't want to shirk the obvious feeling that it hasn't been a great last year. However, I would like to start afresh in the New Year. Box office notwithstanding, I have really tried to focus on being a better actor. For some really weird reason, I'm able to understand this craft better now than ever."

Speaking about his highs and lows, Saif further added, "Sometimes when I was at my lowest, I even felt no one is interested in watching anything I do. But then again, I would tell myself I do think I'm not that important that people have anything against me. Hits and flops are a part of the process. If I'm in the right film and make the right offering, then people will be there to see my movies."

Whether being offered to him or his choices, very few of his films have been the commercial ones. When the actor was asked about the same he said, "You're right. A lot of what I get turned on by might not be the right offering and that is a curse as well as a blessing. I don't have a very 'massy' brain and I cannot say wow, this is perfect, they are going to love this one on the front benches. Sometimes, yes, I do think it is a commercial film. I admit some of my ideas are niche. But then again, I'm scared to use the word 'niche'. I do not think I'm niche. Maybe, I'm not comfortable doing what I would find silly. You have got to do it well and if you find something silly, you obviously will not do it well. Some people can do that kind of comedy really effectively. Having said that, I've enjoyed the commercialism of films like Race and Hum Tum."

Talking about his next, Saif will next be seen in "Kaalakandi" that is slated to release on January 12, 2018.

Massy brain matlab - super, extraordinary, powerful 'brain'

You might have even heard of massy brain teasers...referring to tricky questions, brain teasers, logic puzzles etc.

He normally has an elitist attitude about films, esp b/w. But he's been part of many abysmal movies himself 😆. Yes, a -ve role may work in his favour.

His upcoming film Kalakaandi seems cool. The trailer is kick ass. Dark comedy, funky, wild on the lines of Delhi belly.

I thought Saif means massy (referring to the masses, the front benchers, those who make a movie commercial success for the most part) as in not classy

They ask him about his movies not being commercial success, he says he doesn't have a massy brain, the movies he likes and works are not liked by the front benchers... So they're are not commercial success, usually

He is lamenting tha he's too classy for movie going Indian public...

Yeah, right 😛
