Director Shree Narayan Singh who will
collaborate with Shahid Kapoor for Batti Gul
Meter Chalu said that he is thrilled to begin
work on the film. This will be Singh's second
Bollywood directorial after Toilet: Ek Prem
Katha that starred Akshay Kumar and Bhumi
Pednekar in lead roles.
Shree, who is busy looking out for a location
to shoot the film, told a leading daily, "I am
thrilled to begin work on Batti Gul in
Uttarakhand. There is a different vibe here
which keeps bringing me back to this
beautiful state. Showing a new side to it will
be a big challenge."
The director revealed that just like his first
film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu will also revolve
around a socially relevant theme based on
the issue of highly priced electricity bills. The
director said that his second film is quite
relevant to our times as it is the need of the
hour and the issue of electricity theft should
be addressed strongly.
Today, actor Shahid Kapoor was spotted at
the airport. However, the Haider actor was
hiding his face. It is speculated that he
doesn't want to reveal his look for Batti Gul.
The teaser of the film was out on Diwali. The
director had stated that he is looking
forward to work with Shahid.
Singh said, "I'm happy to collaborate with
Prernaa and Arjun of KriArj Entertainment
the presenters of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. As a
filmmaker, it's a pleasure working with a
dream team of producers, Bhushan Kumar
of T-Series, who also always puts the film
first and understands everything that goes
into making a memorable movie. Together
we hope to make another memorable film
that reaches a wide spectrum of audiences
across the country. I also look forward to
working with Shahid Kapoor. Someone with
his talent will do complete justice to the
role."
