After the success of 3 Idiots and PK, the audience and film industry got a formidable team in superstar Aamir Khan and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In a conversation with indianexpress.com, the filmmaker revealed that while creatively Aamir and his collaboration spells magic, their extremely opposite temperaments also ensures intense clashes.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra also shared that his "complex relationship with Aamir Khan reminds him of his love-and-hate equation with veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. Vidhu and Naseeruddin have been close friends for more than three decades now, but there have been times when the duo got involved in fist fights. The filmmaker made these revelations in a group interaction on the sidelines of a session dedicated to Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro at the ongoing Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival.
Vidhu and Naseeruddin worked on Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. Sudhir Mishra, who co-wrote the screenplay of the cult film, was also a part of the interaction.
"Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro was at a time when everyone was hungry, aspirational, angry and trying to prove a point. It was a fortunate amalgamation of a bunch of people who hate and love each other simultaneously, Sudhir Mishra said about the film's ensemble cast, which besides Naseeruddin also included Om Puri, Ram Biswani, Satish Shah and Satish Kaushik.
"Naseer and Vinod have the most complex relationship in the world. They can't live without each other, Sudhir added. To which, Chopra remarked laughingly, "I've found my Naseer in Aamir. Now, it is the same with him.
Sudhir Mishra then revealed the extent of Naseeruddin Shah and Vidhu Vinod Chopra's fights and how he also bore the brunt of those clashes.
When Sudhir said, "I have seen them get into fist fights. I have come in between and got hit, Vidhu confessed, "Maara hai (We have hit each other). The filmmaker was quick to quip that his relationship with Aamir Khan hasn't reached to a level of "physical fights.
On a serious note, Sudhir Mishra talked about the love that Vidhu and Naseeruddin share. "It's a kind of love. You shouldn't be surprised. Vidhu is angry over something and Naseeruddin is angry over something else.

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's quirky character Shakti Kumaarr from his forthcoming movie Secret Superstar has been inspired by Jeetendra and Anil Kapoor.
Aamir said in a statement: "One of the secrets from Secret Superstar is that in this film, I have used some lines that film actors usually use in their personal life and whenever I meet them. I tend to remember some lines from it, and I have used those lines while playing my character in the film.
"For example, when I met Jeetuji (Jeetendra) for the very first time, I found him as a very humorous person. He had come to visit Nasir (filmmaker Nasir Hussain) sahab once and I was sitting with them that time. I was an assistant to Nasir sahab then. Jeetuji said, 'Nasir sahab, I have been offered a film which has a double role'. Jeetuji laughed and said I can't do one role properly and I have been offered two roles.
"Further, he said that it's perfectly fine, I'll do it well and said 'Buck up India'... The way he said 'Buck Up India', I found it so charming that time that it remained in my mind, and now also if we meet somewhere, he says, 'Son, you have a release now... Buck Up India! It will do very good'. The way Jeetuji uses that phrase 'Buck up India' is something I like and I have used that in Secret Superstar."
What about Anil?
"One thing about Anil Kapoor I have noticed is that whenever he is done talking on call, he doesn't say bye once, he says bye about 15-20 times on call. So while speaking with him on call when I say, 'Anil, see you bye', he says 'Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye' in series. My character uses this trait also."
Secret Superstar is a film which brings out the inner superstar of a teenage girl who is dreaming to become a singer and how she fulfils her dreams by keeping her identity hidden.
Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is slated to release on 19 October.
