I just watched Neerja on Netflix. I really enjoyed it. Sonam did a really good job to my surprise..definitely her best performance. The supporting cast was awesome..the hijackers in particular. However, the actor who stood out the most for me was the guy who played Khalil. I had to look up his name..and it's Jim Sarbh. Wow, what a performance! I feel he was arguably the best performer in the entire movie. I had no idea the terrorists were going to be this good because everyone has mostly talked about Sonam when it comes to this movie..but, I was blown away by the main two hijackers. The one playing Khalil was so effortlessly brilliant though. I literally thought they somehow got an Arab actor to play the role. 😆 Their Arabic seemed so fluent as well.
Did anyone else feel the same? I hope to see this guy get more work now.

I had a short crush on him & read up a lot on him after I watched him because he impressed me sooo much!!! He's super-talented! More theatre at heart & loves the craft etc.. The thing that struck me was that he didn't sound pretentious at all while saying all this. His family is one do the established art families of the country, they founded either the first/most known art gallery or something & the interviewer took the camera through his family house & I had a major fit of envy-- Daaamnnn all that stunning art hanging on the walls!! Raza, Mirza, Gujral, Raja Ravi Verma! <3

He seems very intelligent, very creative, and just so hot! His mad act in Neerja was the highlight of the entire film for me! I hope he does some good movies because I would like to watch him more onscreen.

His and Shabana were the best performances in the film, Sonam was good but Jim was captivating. Hope he gets more work.

MEB - That's a new information about him. He does look like arty , intense and carelessly handsome in his off screen pics.
I hope he doesn't get typecast as psycho villian. Is there any news about his upcoming projects?

I watched a few of his interviews after I finished Neerja as well. He definitely doesn't sound pretentious. Glad he got a chance to showcase his talent in commercial cinema with Neerja. He was amazing. I legit thought he was some Arab actor they somehow got on board. 😆 His Parsi looks helped also..but that Arabic and then the effortless accent..seemed all on point. He did say they had workshops prior to the film which tremendously helped. I'm glad the director/producer actually put effort and hard work into such a film and didn't just "improvise" whatever came their way. It really showed actually.

What actually struck me how this guy was born in 1987..he was probably 27-28 when he shot for the film, yet he has a head full of gray hair and looks slightly older as well. 😆 He looks better with the beard by the way.

Shabana was really good also. Exactly - Sonam was really good (and I was pleasantly surprised)..but Jim really grabs your attention.

I particularly loved Sonam when she opens that letter and breaks down. I don't think I ever saw her cry like that before. 😆

By the way did the makers of the film include everything exactly as Neerja did during the hijack parts? I was pretty impressed with the things with Neerja would come up with. The girl was barely 23 yrs old and was literally the only one who could function on that plain and think. That scene where she decides to discard any American passports was very smart of her.
