Dude, you are a Sonu Worshipper so you will never be objective. 😉. Nothing wrong with that. I've just never felt that wow with Sonu, even less with Udit. They just do not stand up to Rafi for me.

I listen to Rafi almost everyday and the voice that parallels closest to it is Rafat. YMMV.

It is laughable if actors feel they contribute anything to the song's popularity. It is first the composer and then the singer. Who remembers which actor lip synched Rafi or Kishore Kumar ? But still they stand as a testament to those singers, not actors. Music and the artists who sing deserve respect.

That said, I am going to say not every artist is created equal. I am not going to respect a Yo Yo Honey Singh and Rahet in the same breath. I can't and I won't. Arjit is good, but he stands out because the songs today are just not that great. For me, his voice is just not one of the greats. Rahet's songs have more of a chance of standing up to time. But that is my personal opinion, so in this case the audience got a better singer regardless of the snafu. Ultimately it is about that for me.

Both Sonu and Rahat are great.
Sonu's voice is thin and I like that.Meetha pan
Rahat ji ka awaj main ek kadakpan hai.Jaise strong chai.
Per mujhe Sonu ki awaj pasand hai jyada. Both are great though 👍🏼

I agree, clarity in Rahat's voice is superior to Arijit. But then, their voice has totally different texture. (Arijit's voice is soft). They both suit to different genre. A music director can (and should) know before in hand, which singer can do more justice to the song. He can invite them and make them sing. Issue would not have raised, if they had chosen Rahat before. The fact that they brought Arijit, made him sing and then removed makes one question. Didn't they know who suits the song better?

u listen rafi and i worship rafi this is the difference thats why ic an tell the only singer close to rafi sahab is sonu nigam ...rahat is too far to be on same level of sonu nigam too ...he is just a qawal singer though a good one but his voice dont have smoothness which suties actors nor he can sing with the feel required for playback singing ..u can listen rahat and sonu song Phir mujhe dil beqarar karne laga hai Sonu outdone rahat in that song with his expressions this is called playback techniques the feel which they learned from rafi sahab ...this is missing in rahat

Phir Mujhe Dil Beqarar Karne Laga Hai - Sonu Nigam

Sonu Nigam is certainly better singer then Rahat , Rahat can not sing the variety which Sonu can at the other end Sonu can sing what rahat can as abida parveen said no one born in recent time in india and pakistan that can surpass the talent of Sonu Nigam...

@Justmoi even a review writer of anil kapoor 's Pukaar film have more know how about muhammad rafi's style

read what he have written for the song kismat se tum humko mele ho

The best songs of the album come towards the end. Sonu Nigam lifts Kismat Se Tum Humko Mile to amazing heights, sounding very reminiscent of Mohd. Rafi in a semi-classical number of the 60s or 70s. Anuradha Paudwal provides able and equally competent support - and Rahman combines conventional Indian instruments with his inimicable style to come up a truly remarkable composition for a soft, slow and romantic number. Poetic line, my guess by Majrooh, contribute as much to the brilliance of this song.
