SRK AND ANUBHAV SINHA PAUSE FOR A CAUSE
Shah Rukh Khan will perform at a grand fundraiser for the benefit of the farmers who have been committing suicide in India, due to lack of funds and rainfall.
Anubhav, whose heart wrenches at the thought of farmers hanging from trees and being found dead in wells, told Mirror, "This concert has been on my mind since quite some time, but I began speaking to people about it only a week back."
Titled, 'Son of Soil,' the filmmaker has got long term friend SRK on board. "I met SRK and discussed the idea with him, but even before I finished my sentence, he told me with a straight face, "Just tell me where do I have to be and when." He was immediately on board," says Sinha.
The grapevine was abuzz with news that the two collaborators had not been on talking terms for the last few years, but Anubhav laughs off the rumours. "That's not true at all," he asserted. "We have always been in touch and he is a wonderful friend. I'm delighted that he readily agreed to be a part of my concert," he says.
The three-hour long concert will be held on November 28 but Anubhav is yet to finalize a venue for the event. "It will be either Delhi or Mumbai. It depends on which city gives us the maximum sponsorship opportunities," asserts Anubhav, who will be donating all the money raised through the event, to needy farmers across the country.
In addition to this, a close filmmaker friend, whose name Anubhav refuses to divulge, will also film a live documentary on the entire concert and the workings behind-the-scenes.
The 50-year-old filmmaker hasn't met the farmers yet, but has established a disbursal committee, comprising of senior journalists and finance experts, to oversee the fund transfers to farmers.
Besides SRK, composers Vishal-Shekhar, singer Ankit Tiwari and host Manish Paul, will also be a part of the event. Everyone associated with the concert will perform without charging a fee.
Anubhav is approaching other celebrities too. "The idea is to get influential people on board and create more awareness about this problem," he points out.
