Depression however is a very vicious, debilitating, and very very real disease. And it is not always environmental. Sometimes it truly is hormonal imbalances that messes with your state of mind. We don't know what was the cause of Jiah's depression. To say it was due to her failing career is just wrong because you just do not know. It could have been her career, it could have been her personal life, or maybe she had imbalances and her personal or professional life exasperated things.

And calling suicide as an immaturity is insensitive in my opinion. I cannot even imagine what a dark place she must have been at mentally for her to think death was the only thing she deserved. People don't kill themselves because they just didn't get their way. They truly are at a place where they feel they don't deserve anything, or that everyone around them would be better off.

This is a deep serious issue that cannot really be covered in one or two posts. And my intent is not to attack anyone for their personal opinions. I just want to express that people shouldn't be judged for having a disease.

Good God, THANK YOU!!

Going through ths thread, I was really really losing faith in humanity until I got to this post...some sensitivity and sanity still prevails, good to know.

Honestly I don't think this is a fair comparison. Jiah was severely depressed, she had a disease. She was in incredible pain, probably had been for years.

Sooraj was at the very least a douche bag of a boyfriend. I think this has more or less been established that he was an emotionally abusive boyfriend. But, even beyond that there was obviously enough reason for the police to arrest him. The case against him is still pending which means law enforcement and the judicial system hasn't had sufficient evidence yet to drop the charges against him and declare him innocent. That might still happen. But when it comes to public opinion, you will have a very hard time convincing people that an emotionally and mentally abusive boyfriend bares no responsibility in at the very least exacerbating his girlfriend's depressive symptoms.

Basically what I'm saying is that Jiah didn't do anything wrong. She had a disease. It's not that easy to argue that Sooraj didn't do anything wrong.

Is it proven it was written by her ? Sorry I don't know much about her case.

But on a serious note, as much sympathy I have for depressed folks who end up taking their lives, I just as well extend the same sympathy for those who somehow get tangled up for their association. Now I don't know how much this dude is guilty. But until it's being proven, I shall keep myself on the fence.

THIS๐Ÿ‘

being a girl even i dont like to be thrown everything on a guy and blame him for the girl's death!!who knows what happened between them may be he is innocent or not or viceversa to that girl probalilities are there!!and what if sooraj was in that girl's place? will the same people defending her now will defend him then ? ๐Ÿ˜• i guess NO cos he is a guy and should be blamed for everything ..weird

The case against Sooraj is pending the same way Jiah would also would have a case against her had she survived her suicide attempt.

I am not one of those who don't feel sympathy for her or think she deserves no sympathy. But the same law which has a very broad reading of "abetting suicide" is the one who sees suicide a crime as well.

So yeah. He is not declared innocent. And had Jiah survived she would have had a charge against her as well according to the law.
