Indirectly they are since they are the ones promoting the product and in a way making more people buy it.But i don't think any celebrity will willingly endorse a bad product.
Amitabh Bachchan stopped endorsing soft drinks after he came to know how harmful it is.Maybe they were not aware of how harmful maggi can be.They should have made an effort to know more about it but lets think practically. They are here to do their job and earn and doing research on products is not their job.How do you expect them to know how harmful a product is??not like the company will list out the flaws in their products.Baming th stars completely will not be correct. No one can always be right.

This requires very detailed research. Actors wouldn't know THAT.

And the brand is here for 30 years.

I don't entirely blame them. Then, I also think.. once it came out, they shouldn't justify it too. Just accept we were wrong in out judgment and that we are sorry. That would make them look more responsible.

I don't think actors do any kind of research or enquiry regarding any product. That itself makes me question that on what basis do they claim the products to be good and healthy if they did no research about it. On what grounds is it right for an actor to come on public platform and endorse a product, claim it to be good when they have absolute zero idea about the product itself. Is this practice ethical from any angle? They will urge people to go buy this product but have no sense of responsibility to check if what they are saying has even an iota of truth behind it ? If they are giving their name and brand value to a product, then its their responsibility to check whether they are doing the right thing or not. If an actor can't keep a check on what kind of a job they are picking then they in every right should face the consequences of deceiving the general public.

Lol no one is asking them to do research the product in a lab . as a public figure they should have some sort of responsibility of what they are endorsing, especially edible products like cold drink ,chips, chocolate
other products like mobile network, gadgets tho chalta hai.

^ They should definitely apologize and be more careful in the future! I'm just saying that they can't be expected to investigate products. They should definitely ask questions about the, safety and IMO demand some certification from the companies that their products are safe.

Lol they even sign contracts with clauses to protect themselves from legal actions. Oh such faith on the product they are endorsing and so much hard work to protect yourself while the public gets slowly poisoned by their endorsed products 😆

dude, your banner image following your first link is totally misleading. this is what the nih site actually says

CONCLUSIONS:

MSG has a widespread reputation for eliciting a variety of symptoms, ranging from headache to dry mouth to flushing. Since the first report of the so-called Chinese restaurant syndrome 40 years ago, clinical trials have failed to identify a consistent relationship between the consumption of MSG and the constellation of symptoms that comprise the syndrome. Furthermore, MSG has been described as a trigger for asthma and migraine headache exacerbations, but there are no consistent data to support this relationship. Although there have been reports of an MSG-sensitive subset of the population, this has not been demonstrated in placebo-controlled trials.

Glutamate levels were shown to be high in cancer patients in this study reported in the Oxford Journals. Patients with lung cancer with the lowest glutamate levels had the highest survival rates. They also had the highest cysteine levels. Cysteine - a sulfur containing amino acid - is used to make glutathione as well as taurine - the body's natural water soluble anti-oxidant. This finding suggests that glutamate may interfere with cysteine and glutathione production in the body.

BREAKING NEWS:

January 5, 2009 - Researchers have just discovered the gene involved in breast cancer metastasis. The gene MTDH (short for metadherin) but also known as 3D3, AEG-1, AEG1, LYRIC affects cells susceptibility to glutamate excitotoxicity. This gene is involved in the mestastasis of breast cancer, malignant gliomas, and melanomas. Currently, excessive glutamate neurotoxicity due to MTDH, is believed to cause HIV dementia due to how HIV infection affects the expression of this gene in astrocytes, (AEG-1 stands for Astrocyte Elevated Gene). This gene is considered an HIV inducible gene. More..

November 6, 2008, in the Journal, Nature, researchers from Washington University in St. Lewis report that they have sequenced the genome of a woman who died of leukemia and found 10 mutations - one of which is for glutamate receptors.

From the study, the mutations were:

1 & 2 ) protocadherin/cadherin family members CDH24 and PCLKC (also known as PCDH24)
3 & 4) G-protein-coupled receptors GPR123 and EBI2 (also known as GPR183)
5) a protein phosphatase PTPRT
6) a potential guanine nucleotide exchange factor KNDC1
7) a peptide/drug transporter SLC15A1 and
8) a glutamate receptor gene GRINL1B.
9& 10) previously described, FLT3 and NPM1 genes.

QUOTE: "On the basis of deep readcount data, we determined that all of these mutations (except FLT3) were present in nearly all tumour cells at presentation and again at relapse 11 months later..."

In India, because of a study of 134 people with stomach cancer who were avid consumers of food which contained MSG, The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Owners of Eastern India (as noted in this India Times article) has asked its members to refrain from using MSG.

maggi from nestle which is a reputed company. so users buy it without any second thought regarding its quality. this is why such products are checked regularly.

other ones might be even more harmful but not checked much as not much users buy it when compared with reputed brand ones.

generally speaking noodles are not a healthy diet, those who eat it regularly replacing usual diet are found to have greater chance of cardiovascular problems. here is one example of another famous brand top ramen noodles.

Study: Eating Instant Ramen Noodles Linked to Heart Disease and Stroke Risk

http://www.care2.com/greenliving/stu...roke-risk.html

these type of checks and study helps people more aware of problems and surely much needed in today's food adulteration market.

irst cadbury with worms,,
then Coke contained 30 times and Pepsi 36 times the amount of pesticides considered acceptable by the European Economic Commission (EEC)
now maggie..

these foreign companies need to be screw up...
they bann our mangoes for silly reasons and their own companies mess with our people's health

I can't believe it!

So stars are supposed to get moolah, can even get credit if it's something good they endorsed. But no responsibility if it's something harmful? 😲

How would they know is a lame argument!

Why shouldn't they run a check? How can they promote something with taglines such as "Taste bhi health bhi"?

AB is especially shameless given how he endorsed Cadbury after worms controversy and helped clean its image. Endorsed UP state after gruesome crimes in 2006-2007. And Madhuri? What to expect from her who was shaking her booty in wake of communal bloodshed during Saifai controversy?

Sure they have no responsibility. No duty. Just take money, mouth lines, dance away or plaster your face anywhere.

No need to worry about what exactly you are endorsing. No need to be careful about edible products at least.

Just worry about the cheques!
