Madhuri Dixit gets FDA notice for endorsing Maggi

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit seems to have landed in a soup for endorsing Maggi with the Haridwar Food and Drug Administration today serving a notice to her on the claims made in the advertisement.

The notice seeks a report from the actress within 15 days on claims made in the advertisement regarding the nutrition value of the '2-minute noodles', an official of Haridwar Food and Drug Administration said.

Maggi recently came under the scanner after samples collected by Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration were reported to be containing Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG) and lead more than the permissible limits.

Nestle India was asked to withdraw a batch of the popular snack from the market by the authorities in Uttar Pradesh recently.

Dixit has been asked to explain how Maggi is good for health and the basis of making the claims.

If the actress fails to respond to the notice within the stipulated time frame, a case could be registered against her, Food Security Officer Mahimanand Joshi said.

Most stars are irresponsible and lallu in signing up for endorsements. Just go after money.

Nestle has had controversies with its chocolates also. And now Maggi.

I don't understand why a responsible celeb would endorse brands from Nestle and Cadbury or those Cola brands.

Unless she is the manufacturer how would she actually know.

Bet she don't even eat maggi anyway.

Wasting their time when they should be after more important ppl.

Any educated person would know that Maggi has no nutritional value and has too much sodium and MSG.
Madz did it for the money and to be visible on commercial ads at least since shes not getting anymore movie offers.

They are already taking action against the company.

This one is just in addition. 😆

People were bashing AB sr also for endorsing "Meri Maggi" in past and rightfully so.

But MD is the current ambassador and her ad specifically tried to promote Maggi as both tasty and healthy breakfast, with the Taste bhi, health bhi tagline. Hence she's at the receiving end of more flak.

When you're such a big name, your words make an impression and you have to be more responsible about what you endorse, what kind of lines you're uttering for which type of product. She has a team. They could atleast run up a little background check before signing up for endorsements.

It's no longer like past when celebs could even endorse cigarettes, guthka, paan masala, alcohol and get away with it.

This makes me think of Ranveer.

Commendable with organising free meals for school children.

If someone supplies cheap contaminated food and heaps of children get sick.

He will be butchered. Better keep tabs on the suppliers.
