I think the main problem was when she was doing way too many movies with RGV. Despite her performance was critically acclaimed , but it wasn't really successful in the box office. She was a complete package..good looks, great dancing skills,and excellent acting skills.

She makes me speechless even today with films like Ek Haseena Thi, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Bhoot and Pinjar. These films were her best performance in her career👏👏

She is one of my favorites ...Her choice of roles have been superb .I love her movies more than Sri or Madhuri

It's weird cause she is a great actress, looks good, and dances well... She is younger than Madhuri (she is 41 and Madhuri is 48) but she debuted BEFORE Madhuri in 1980 whereas Madhuri debuted after her in 1984... Yet Madhuri became an over-night sensation whereas Urmila, despite having all the qualities, didn't end up reaching the superstar status.

she did gud movies but she was also considered as overacting ki dukaan. she was gud in pinjar and other movies but she was bad in so many movies.

Urmila did not want to be a performer. Look at her earlier films!

She very much wanted to be a commercial heroine.

Rangeela is normal now but it was considered too bold back then. Its songs were called vulgar due to Urmila's clothes, picturisation and her expressions.

Another amazing thing is to loosely use words like classics! Kaun, EHT, etc are classics?!

No Urmila film is a classic.

Sridevi has too much versatility in her filmography so please do not even compare her to Urmila. Even 1 Sadma is enough to trump Urmila's entire career.

Urmila was just a sex symbol and once even reduced to item girl. Just few good performances later, when she was past by her sell date, don't make her underrated performer.

If she wanted to be a performer she wouldn't choose Narsimha, Aflatoon, Kudrat, Hum tumpe marte hain, Kunwara and many more rubbish films.

Complete package is not just beauty, talent, dance etc. It is also giving hits and also doing roles people relate to.

Sridevi, MD, Kajol, Lolo all balanced with such roles. That's why they succeeded.

Urmila never did family oriented films which were in vogue then.

Tomorrow one can call Bipasha an underrated performer too. 😆 Though she is also just a sex symbol with 1 or 2 nice performances.

Urmila has been profiled in film magazines and national magazines only under sex in Hindi cinema topics.

She never fit the ideal heroine mould.

Seeing this thread I feel Sonam has hope then. Tomorrow she can hope to be called complete package and amazing performer with just 1 hit and 3 good performances.

It is not luck due to which Lolo got DTPH while Urmila got Judaai.

She was rising to the top with hits like Jeet, Saajan Chale Sasural and Raja Hindustani in 1996. YRF would take a top star anyday!

In 1997 also Lolo had 3 hits with Hero No 1, Judwaa and DTPH.

Urmila was left to bask in glory of Rangeela only. Forget Sri and MD, Lolo and Kajol were far ahead of her.

Karisma and Kajol were the only ones who were attracting best offers from mid 90s.

Karisma is the only one (debut from 90s) who matched steps with a dancer like Govinda without hesitation.

May I know what was the verdict of Urmila the performer's films with Govinda? Kunwara and Hum Tumpe Marte hain? 😉 What was verdict of Jaanam samjha karo with Salman?

It was no surprise she got Judaai and that too supporting role to Sri who was going to retire then!

Even Sonali had more sense then to try to do family oriented roles. That's why people remember her as Preeti from HSSH!
