Yes, AK doesn't have any blockbuster in his entire career, said this during the trailer also, budget would have been tighter it could have help recover the losses, but i would say many biggest hits in any kind of cinema involves RISK TAKING, which i guess that guy was doing, nothing else.

If we go by that logic then Salman Khan has also given several flops then why blame the story, director! instead all blame goes to Salman 😆

The masala movie loving audience dint like it. I saw one guy complaining to anurag . Redicullous , you dint even make one sceen where audience can clap. Wereas multiplex audience has loved it. I remember kavitakrishmurthys article on bv were she heard a guy asking with theaterwala did anurags rivals plotted the debacle of bombay velvet. Because multiplex audience are not being able to understand the negetive reviews. I still see full of surprise tweets on twitter regarding bv saying I dont understand the criticism. Its a superb movie, better than masala rubbish which is served you every weekend. Bombayvelvet is not a bad movie, actually its above average, its worth a watch. You can see why vijay invested in it. Its first time indian cinema has come up with something like this , its top notch cinema, I remember one guy telling bombayvelvet is perfect example of three phase movie, it should be taken as study topic in filmschools, vijay may have though indian audience will welcome the change. But he was wrong n about popularity of actors n actress. Ranbir had hits behind him when AK signed him. It can hapoen to anywbody. Today khans r giving hit, if a movie takes 3 years n suddenly if they start giving flops coz audience have outgrown them, and dosnt like masala movies anymore. There is no guarantee for anything in movie business.

fox needs some sharp and smart like sid roy kapur
or someone with a vision like ronnie.
the studio is spending a lot
probably more than many other big studios
sadly none of their films brought great money back.
they need to give lesser funds to films
plus stop buying distribution rights with huge money
make big films with tighter budget.
and buy smaller films in minimal budget.
