AFAIK Ranbir and Ranveer were approached but for the 2nd role. Then it was offered to Shahid and Imran also. Finally went to Sushant. Doubt they were ever offered aamirs role. Aamir was the unofficial lead in all reports even when Hirani hadn't finished writing the script.

Nope. Aamir's role was offered to Ranveer when Aamir refused the movie. Let me dig that article.

The 3 Idiots director, who at the time had no firm commitment from Aamir Khan for Peekay, is believed to have spoken to both Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer separately about possibly starring in it. Encouraged by this, Ranveer decided to put all his eggs into Hirani's basket, opting out of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

Aamir Khan then famously signed up for Peekay, and Ranveer, one hears, went back to Rakeysh to check if Milkha was still available. Alas, for him, the Rang De Basanti director had signed on Farhan only 15 days earlier.

This sounds like long way away. Priya Dutt said they'd like to make a biopic with Biru but when is Sanju baba supposed to come out?

As for Kishore Kumar biopic, he's been wanting to make it since 2010 even before Basu came on board. His production bought the rights too. So pretty sure he won't leave that project. He needs to put on weight for the role so they need six month schedule. Should start after Ayan's film.

Who will play Dawood? Chota Shakeel? Abu Salem?
