The thing is Kishore da didn't have any formal training in music whatsoever, still he is accounted as one of india's greatest playback singers ever produced goes to show the amount of talent the man had!
I mean who can bloody claim that i have sung thousands of songs with rafi, asha, lata, manna dey and have sometimes or the other overshadowed themKishore da's version of tum bin jau kaha is far more popular than rafi saab's 1,u can also give it a hearing of all the duets they sung,u can clearly comprehend tht kishore da excelled more than rafi saab!Furthermore,u might not know that kishore da sang many classical songs too in bengali and other regional languages and some in hindi too, humein tumse pyaar hai kitna has a classical base 2 it so does mere naina sawan bhadon. You should check out his rabindra sangeet and some of his nazrul sangeets in bengali!Lastly it all comes down to personal preference.Kishore da,for me had a MANLY voice, ask any singer including sonu to sing any of his sad songs and i bet no one can reproduce the melody or the mood of his songs!
