Emraan Hashmi learns Marathi to promote Ghanchakkar
Dibyojyoti Baksi, Hindustan Times
Mumbai, April 10, 2013

The prolific Emraan Hashmi is now set to do something he has never done before. In his upcoming film, director Raj Kumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar, he will be seen playing a Maharashtrian. And so, to promote the film, he will even be interacting with his fans in Marathi. A source

says, "You can't say that Emraan speaks flawless Marathi, but by now, he can speak the language well enough to be able to sail through a public interaction."
Emraan is believed to have undergone extensive training to understand the nuances of the language. "He doesn't have scenes where he has to say long dialogues in Marathi, but he will be seen speaking the language in bits and pieces through the film. Emraan's focus, while learning, was more on the diction and manner in which a small-time conman would utter certain lines," says the source.

When contacted, Raj Kumar says, "For the first time ever, Emraan is playing a Maharashtrian. The film is set entirely in Mumbai, and revolves around an odd couple — a Maharashtrian man and his loud, Punjabi wife (played by Vidya Balan)."
