and I dnt expect him to win any Indian award simply bcz he is a Pakistani...

I don't think the Pakistani factor is at play, BW awards are highly biased and some actors/directors/singers/music directors have always an advantage over others.

He made Rabba Main Toh Mar Gaya from Mausam a 100 times better than how the original one was sung. They should've kept his version in the movie.

i cant beleive you just compared rahat fateh ali khan to atif aslam😳

Oh god no way is he overrated. Damn I remember sitting through Bodyguard (oh lord, there's a couple of wasted hours I'll never get back) and just rolling along with Teri Meri---a perfectly nice, pleasant song---and then I don't know if it was the theatre sound system or what the F but suddenly this Voice came ringing through the movie house and it was like WOW!!!! Holy crap, it was just the purest, most powerful sound
Beautiful.

Good question.
He has such a beautiful voice, but can only sing the kind of songs he sings - you couldn't ask him to rock out I guess.

But when I listen to his music, I find his songs enchanting: he certainly is king of his own niche of music and there's nothing wrong with that...

^^^ Agreed!! sometimes versatility is given too much importance! If an individual is good at something then they should continue doing that! I've not heard Sonu Nigam singing a sufi-kind of song

listen Tera Deedar hua frm Jannat 2 , Rahat's version and Javed ali's version ... Javed Ali did much better job than Rahat ...

means many singers Can sing what Rahat sings but Rahat Can't sing what sonu , shaan , KK etc Can sing means he is over rated
