The reason is his miserly ways
Sanjay Dutt and his producer TP Aggarwal who are working together on the Hindi re-make of the South Indian hit 'Samy' are in a quarrelsome mood these days. A while ago, actors and producers came to an understanding that since a hefty 12.6 per cent service tax has been levied on producers in Bollywood, the actors would be paying their staff from their own pockets. Most actors have conceded to this demand but Sanjay Dutt doesn't seem to be in the mood to do so.
The actor insists that the producer of his film should pay for his staff since he has cut the size of his entourage by half. He thus insists that it's reasonable to expect his producer to bear the expenses. Sanjay has fired half his staff in order to ease the burden on himself and his producers but Aggarwal does not agree. "Sanjay's acting fee is still the same, he hasn't made any concessions there. Even if he has reduced his staff it would still be too much money to pay them. This would also mean going against the agreement that the Producers' Guild has with actors," informs an insider.
Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, who shepherded the movement to make actors pay for their own staff, will have a word with Sanjay soon to make him see reason. Aggarwal meanwhile remains hopeful that Sanjay will reconsider, since negotiations are in progress.
