Are you seriously comparing films like Houseful and Rowdy Rathore to Gadar? How can you compare a brainless masala entertainer to a periodic drama?! 😕

Anyway, the entire discussion in this topic has got nothing to do with the interview. If someone reads it do comment, I think it's one of her best interviews so I felt like sharing it.

Some scenes were so downright hilarious & stupid like Deol screaming in the forest & the Pak fauj running away. Pure comedy.

Strange because Ameesha said moms from Pakistan called her and told her they named their daughters Sakeena after her character.

gardar featured in masand's yuck-o-meter...😆

Gadar

And finally, fourth on my list is Anil Sharma's Gadar, the most blood-curdling, offensive excuse for patriotism.

A film whose message is so skewed that any self-respecting moviegoer can't help feeling completely manipulated by the director's intentions.

It's a film that went on to do thunderous business, a film that went on to become an undisputed blockbuster.

Much of that could be credited to Sunny Deol's immensely convincing performance as a man torn between his love for his country and his love for his wife.

How that kind of jingoism escaped the attention of the entire nation is something I still find difficult to understand.

So you won't be surprised when Gadar lands four rotten tomatoes, all big and red on my very handy yuck-o-meter.

Those were four blockbusters that I violently and passionately hated, and now it's your turn.

We all say a lot of random/abstract things all the time :) Who's gonna go up & verify her claim. Chances are it's all a pile of rang-baazi.

You have got to be kidding me. What is Ameesha smoking? I'm Pakistani, and all my relatives loathed Gadar.
Its not even QUESTIONABLE that its a typical anti-Pakistani film like LOC, which was another terrible film.

I watched Gadar when I was 8, and hardly remember it, so I wiki'd it to refresh my memory and to be honest... the story isn't even that great. I kind of found it offensive towards Pakistanis (and I'm not even Pakistani).

It was a huge blockbuster, and bless it for that, but really, how much money a movie makes is not equivalent to how good it is. Many great films don't become blockbusters and not all blockbusters are award worthy (take recent Khan/Kumar/Devgan films for instance - doesn't matter what the genre is). And there is no rule that period films are automatically better than comedies. So I completely get that Gadar vs. RR/Housefull 2 comment - they all made tons of money, but doesn't necessarily mean they're great. 😛

Lagaan won awards because it deserved it more than Gadar did. And Gadar isn't even memorable to me.. when I think about 2001, I just think about Lagaan, DCH, and heck - even K3G! Gadar may have made tons of money but it doesn't stick outta the crowd like Sholay, DDLJ, Mother India, Lagaan, 3 Idiots and so forth.

Coming to the actual topic - I read halfway through her interview and then got bored. At bits she sounds nice, humble, sweet; and next moment she sounds delusional and cocky. I stopped reading due to the mixed signals, LOL. Good luck to her with her producing career though!
