Who is Emraan Hashmi in The Dirty Picture?
Milan Luthria's film The Dirty Picture has gained a large amount of media coverage and increasing interest from an audience waiting to see Vidya Balan in her new avatar. In The Dirty Picture, which is produced by Ekta Kapoor, Vidya plays southern sex siren Silk Smitha, but less is known about the characters of her male co-stars. Emraan Hashmi's character has been kept under tight wraps, but it is rumored that the actor, who is touted to play a negative role, is in fact playing none other than his uncle Mahesh Bhatt.
During production, Milan had revealed that Emraan's was to play a character who hated Silk Smitha but yet was to feature in some personal scenes with Vidya's character. Although no official announcement has been made by those involved in the film, a source has claimed that his character is based on producer-director Mahesh Bhatt.
The source says, "This was supposed to be kept a secret but now it has leaked out that Emraan apparently plays Mahesh Bhatt, even though it is still unclear as to what relationship did he share with Silk Smitha. Emraan on his part did the research and read up on everything available on his uncle. He also hounded Bhatt to divulge information that was not known to people."
Emraan incidentally happens to be Mahesh's nephew, so should this be the case, it will be interesting to see how Emraan will portray his uncle on screen as a negative character.
