The award for the best female debutante was shared by Mahie Gill for her performance as the modern day 'Paro' in Anurag Kashyap's Dev D.
The best male debutant of the year award was won by Omi 'Chatur' Vaidya for his performance in 3 Idiots alongside Jacky Bhagnani who debuted in Vivek Sharma's Kal Kissne Dekha.
The popular award for best music was bagged by Pritam for his compositions in Imtiaz Ali's hit film Love Aaj Kal while Swanand Kirkire took home the trophy for best lyrics for the songs of 3 Idiots.
Kavita Seth, whose rendition of Ek Tara in Wake Up Sid won her all-round plaudits was adjudged the best female playback singer while Shaan bagged the trophy for the best male playback singer for his renditions in 3 Idiots.
The award ceremony was a glitzy affair with actor Salman Khan making a grand entry on stage with a host of other Bollywood celebs including his co-stars like Zarine Khan, Govinda and Anil Kapoor.
They danced to the beats of Khan's superhit numbers from films like Veer, Partner and No Entry and his upcoming movie Dabangg.
But this year's IIFA saw some of the big names in Bollywood opting out of the event. Amitabh Bachchan, who is the brand ambassador of IIFA, did not attend the ceremony for the first time in 11-years.
His actor son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai too cited a busy schedule for not attending the event.
Shahrukh Khan, who last performed in IIFA in 2005, opted out. The actor is busy shooting his superhero flick Ra.One.
Arjun Rampal, Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth and director Mani Ratnam too gave the event a miss.
