Mumbai: Soha Ali Khan had done her homework much before the interview. She had vowed to take every question with a cool head, promised not to answer any controversial questions and of course, questions about her personal life.
But this one question - 'Are you planning to do a Phd in Politicial Science?' - challenged her poise. "My mother told you this, isn't it? She is spreading rumours against me. Oh my God; I am tired of explaining this. It's so not true," Soha says.
For the record, Soha is the only actor who has studied at Oxford University and the London School of Economics. She attended The British School in New Delhi and then studied History at Balliol College of Oxford University. She went on to do her Masters in History and International Relations from the London School of Economics.
Soha says though her mom wants her to date her books, she hates them. "I have done my Masters. What more do you want me to do? Isn't it enough? I have no intention to study even though my mom wants me to go back to school right away."
Some say hat she had a bitter break-up with her boyfriend actor Siddharth while others say she's found solace in Kunal Khemu's arms, her co-star in her next release.
"I am single and I am enjoying it," says Soha, who slips into the role of a 'lost' village girl in her next film. She adds, "I play a girl from a small village in Bengal who dreams of making it big in the film industry. I play the lead role opposite Kunal Khemu. It's a light-hearted comedy," she adds.
Speaking of Bengal reminds us of film-maker Rituparno Ghosh, who has time and again brought Soha's acting capabilities to the fore with films like Iti Srikanto and Antarmahal. So is there any film with him on the cards? "No, we do talk about doing another film all the time. We even spoke about a script when he came to Mumbai but nothing materialised," she signs off.
